Star Trek Into Darkness : Review.

Well this movie is the prequel of Star Trek Wrath of Khan 1982.

Story:
The Covert Operation:
The movie starts with a covert operation by James Kirk aka Jim in the movie, he runs out of a live volcanic mountain with a a scroll, the scroll was scared to the people on that planet, who are not really an advance race, when Jim runs with the scroll they follow him into this red alien jungle, Jim tells Spock that the people are now away from the volcanic mountain and now they can carry out their part, Spock Uhura and sulu are in a small ship, they get inside the mountain where spock gets down to set a cold fusion device so that the volcano does not erupts and destroy the whole planet, sulu could not control the ship coz of the high volcanic activity and is forced to leave, spock gets left behind in the volcano, jim refuses to leave spock behind and takes the enterprise which was hidden underwater in a lake over the mountain to save him, they teleport him on board and the cold fusion device activates immediately freezing the whole volcano,
Mission:- the volcano would erupt and destroy the whole planet and all its people who are not modern enough and could not defend themselves so jim and his team tries to handle the situation but everything does not goes well, the people they were trying to save see the enterprise coming out of the water, when the enterprise was going to save spock, so this incident changed their religious values.

After this when enterprise returns home, and this incident is reported by spock then jim is demoted to commander and his also loses his ship, as jim has violated some key rules of the Starfleet, which is not to interfere with other planets and their destiny and all. Jim is assigned back in enterprise as second in command and spock is transferred to another ship, at this time a Starfleet officer goes to see his sick daughter in the hospital, she should not be cured so she is bound to die, this is when Khan aka Jhon Harrison comes in and tell that officer that he can save his daughters life, khan gives that officer his blood and when he injects khan blood into her daughter she began to recover, then that officer goes to his office and blows up that office via a ring which he puts in a glass of water, the ring was given to him by khan which was actually a super fusion explosive device miniaturized into a ring, which would react with water and blow up,
So after this incident there is a meeting with all the high ranking Starfleet officers, Jim and Captain Pike who is now the captain of the Enterprise, are there too, so is spock. Khan attacks there with a drone looking plane and kills all the senior admirals including captain pike, khan then teleports to a Klingon space and hides there, jim gets reinstated as the captain of the Enterprise and his brings spock back as his first officer, they are given a mission to go to Kronos and kill Khan with the new experimental torpedoes that the Starfleet has invented, scotty the ships chief of engineering does not allows the torpedoes on board and when jim asks him to bring it in, he resigns from his post,
So Chekov becomes the new chief of engineering, when they were warping to reach kronos their reaction malfunctions and they are stranded in space, but the manage to reach kronos by that time, spock tells jim that it will be unethical to fire torpedoes at khan from orbit, jim decides to take in a team and arrest khan, so Uhura, jim and spock along with two security officers get into a small transport ship and go to kronos, kronos is a Klingon territory and klingons are not at good terms with the humans, when jim leaves the enterprise he assigns sulu as captain and sulu sends a message to khan that if he does not surrenders to jim who is coming there to arrest him then they will fire torpedoes at him. when jims transport ship was entering kronos they were attacked by the klingon attack ships, they are surrounded are forced to land, uhura can speak klingon and goes to negotiate with the klingon commander, but the klingon commander does not listen and grab uhura by her neck, khan comes and start to attack the klingons, a firefight breaks out and all klingons are killed, khan comes to jim and asks how many torpedos do the enterprise has on board, jim says 72, then khan surrenders to jim, they bring him aboard enterprise, khan tells jim that admiral marcus is trying to start a war with the klingons, and that he has intentionally malfunctioned the enterprise so that they are stranded in klingon territory, he also tells jim to open a torpedo and see whats inside it and gives him a coordinates to a place near Jupiter and asks jim to see what is there,
Jim calls scotty on earth and asks him to investigate the Jupiter location and gets macoy and the ships new science and weapons specialist Dr Carol to investigate the torpedoes, they find that there are Cryogenic chambers inside those torpedoes, jim asks khan to tell him what he knows, khan tells him that he and his crew are a genetically enhanced breed of super soldiers who are designed for war and that admiral marcus intends to use them for war, he also tells jim that it was admiral marcus who has forced khan to attact the Starfleet council, at that time another ship comes there,
This ship is a experimental project that was being developed near Jupiter by admiral marcus, it’s a Juggernaut class ship twice bigger than enterprise and way more faster and equipped with advance experimental weapons and military tech, it’s a ship designed for war, Admiral Marcus himself commands this ship, he comes to the location where the enterprise was stranded and then asks jim to handover him khan, jim bluffs and then goes into a wrap towards earth, Admiral Marcus follows enterprise and attacks it the enterprise is heavily damaged but manages to reach earth, just as admiral marcus is about to destroy enterprise Dr carol comes in the bridge she is actually daughter of admiral marcus himself, marcus beams her onboard the Juggernaut class, jim tells marcus that he is ready to hand over khan to him, jim and khan plan to get inside the juggernaut class via help of scotty who is on board the juggernaut class ship and take over the ship, khan tells jim that the juggernaut class ship is designed in such a way that it needs very less crew to operate that ship, so jim and khan makes a space jim from ship to ship via open space and reaches the juggernaut class, there they make their way into the bridge and stop marcus, just as jim was about to arrest marcus khan starts to fight with Dr carol and scotty, he throws everyone off and kills marcus, then take jim hostage, and asks the enterprise for the 72 torpedoes inside which are the 72 crew of khan, spock who is no in command of Enterprise tells macoy to take out all the cryogenic chambers and send the torpedoes to khan after rigging the explosives in them, khans receives the torpedoes and sends back jim, then just as he tries to destroy enterprise the torpedoes explodes causing major structural damage to the juggernaut class, coz of the damage of both the ship they both began to fall into the gravity of earth, enterprise is saved by its crew Chekov, scotty, and jim, but jim had to reset the reaction core which is full of radiation so he gets radiation poisoned and start to die, at that time khan tries to fly the juggernaut class to the Starfleet command center on earth and blow it up, but the ship fails to reach its destination and khan leaves the ship, spock goes after khan and arrests him after a fight, macoy uses khan blood to heal jim,
Khan along with his 72 crew members are put into cryogenic sleep and poisoned,
In the last scene Enterprise starts its journey on a 5 year mission into deep space to explore new worlds and all.

Alright this is another typical star trek movie, you cannot really expect anything new from this, the movie looks neat like a sci fi clean world tech all around, world would look like, the firefight scene was okay not something out of the world, the ship to ship fight scene was not really a fight scene it was not a war really enterprise was not even fighting, this was a one sided scene, probably shot to show the bad situation on jim against the might juggernaut class ship, the movie shows a scene where the new spock talks to the old spock from the future about khan and old spock tells him that they did defeat him but with a heavy cost, he was talking about the wrath of khan movie, that is going to happen in future, khan does not really comes out as a super villian, looks more like a lost soldier rather than a super villian, the movie goes off in decent speed, the direction is not really great, there are some funny lines and all, I feel the movie lacks vision, I mean they should have gone for a full war between enterprise and juggernaut class and then they could have damaged enterprise, also they totally lost the klingon factor they could have kept a war scene with juggernaut and the klingon war birds, that would be a great addition but they failed there too.
This is a movie that will not impress you in the end but rather you will feel nothing, it fails to impress. the story flows in a straight line, there is not major special FX in this movie, the only thing that I like in this movie is the juggernaut class ship, it looks nice, advanced powerful and intimidating for any other ship around. Normal and regular acting by the actors, the music is not really good, the ship and world designing is not anything worth mentioning,
Unless you are a hardcore Star Trek Fan or you want to know the story about Khan you can give this movie a miss easily, back in the days when the character of khan was originally developed the US people did not much about Indians, so they named the character as khan Noonien Singh, now Singh is a Punjabi surname and Khan is a Muslim surname and they are two different religions,
Anyways I will give it 2/10.
