Mike Ashley will be delighted that his non-investment means we're still capable of playing like that! Shelvey was a monster today.
For all the comments about their home fans their away fans are often top notch. Their team started slowly and although they edged most of the match they never looked like actually putting us to the sword - guess the fans are used to more.
Think most of the teams struggling could say the same thing. At the end of the season what may save us are the points we are picking up away from home. I suspect the record of 39% of our points coming away from home is higher then all our recent PL campaigns (Although it might just be because we have been crap at home until yesterday).
Always fair and honest. I just don’t happy clap and misdirect. Always give credit when it’s due, it just hasn’t been due at home very often.
Just looked and he actually had his third worst pass completion rate for the season. A few sliding tackles when im wrecked and clearly I'm sold.
Still a great performance. The perfect example to those who think football is played in percentages, stats and pieces of paper. He had a stonker because the game is about more than a few stats. Needless to say the stats guys will say, "what did you think he did well, ah the stats back that up yes". He passed the ball well on Saturday generally. Most of the misplaced ones came early doors. Late on when defending a lead, a pass into the corner of the pitch which just holds ups with a touch of backspin, to no one in particular, is a great pass The stats won't say that though will they. I love stats and think they are useful. They will just never come close to explaining the game. Football is intuitive and that should always be encouraged/developed.
