I'm not going to say you're wrong. On talent alone, Joselu would never play football again, even 5-a-side with the lads... However, stuff happens behind the scenes, some good players don't take instruction, and some **** players follow instructions. I'm not going to second guess Rafa, because I genuinely believe it's like flogging a dead horse. No combination we have is worrying to the opposition. Do you think we'd be on many more points doing something different? Cause I don't.
I didn't want Rafa in the first place, I was the one and only person on here who wasn't impressed by him last season. But howay... I think you chaps have an inflated sense of worth for these players. They are ****. I think we'll do ok in the Championship next year though.
Dummett, Diame, Lascelles and Kenedy had good games tonight. Joselu gets minus 5 out of ten. Let Rafa and the team down badly tonight. The corner from whence they scored looked to have not been a corner at all. One for paranoids on the referee thread.
Maybe not, mate, to be fair. Gayle missed sitters, Joselu misses sitters, Mitro misses sitters. Ultimately Rafa has fcked us a bit. Never should have gone for Joselu and if he had no interest or trust in Mitro, he should have got him out sooner and replaced.
Then again, £5 mill is **** all to spend on a striker... Maybe he had more, and didn't use it, but that's really not Rafa's style wherever he's been. He buys for the sake of it, almost. We're profit making, not debt-raising, and we don't have an owner who wants to invest, so we can't compete.
Just got back. Too many missed chances / good saves by their keeper, who got MOTM. Penalty miss was soul destroying. Unless we get a proper finisher brought in tonight we're probably done.
Don't ever give up on your club, keep supporting it, it's your club and trust me one day you will get your club back and it will be everything you want it to be Newcastle United is bigger than anyone, it hurts I know but just keep going he is only one man, we are a city, a whole population, trust me
Diame's best game for us tonight? Merino was disappointing for me, he needs to start actually doing something - 1 goal and 1 assist in 18 games this season. Shelvey's record just as bad though.
Diame actually looks like a footballer all of a sudden. Perhaps understands this more conservative role a bit better. Merino - being charitable I'm wondering if he's still in some discomfort from that back injury.
Diame is the best out of the CMs at breaking up play. He just gets a foot in and onto the ball and breaks down attacks. He was also good on the ball tonight and linked play well. I've not been much of a fan at all in the last 18 months, and he's certainly no number 10, but credit where it's due, he's been decent the last few appearances.
Long may it continue. And indeed, he'd need to continue for quite a while to make up for his performances up until recently... But screw it - let's just add him to the list of Rafa's transfer successes to wind up Jonjo.
