I believe it's more to do with the personal(professional?) beef between him and Mike Ashley than anything he has against us as a club. The dirty old scrote.

I agree, and that is what I was getting at. There has always been hatred between them, and to be fair both have used their clubs as weapons to score points over the other in the past. I just wonder if his old company collapsing, and then MA buying it up for a pittance, has finally pushed him over the edge.

Perhaps he can referee an Arsenal game then neither he nor Wenger can see what's going on.

That is true. Relying on a F365 article for the facts isn't always the best idea

It was a 21 year old with a rush of blood to the head making his Premier League debut, as awful as the challenge was, it was hardly Ben Thatcher-esque or Roy Keane. The Character Assasination has gone way OTT

Has it? Death threats are ridiculous and laughable, so are many of the (weirdly curable) other hexes etc... But is this criticism not going to do what the FA won't? Namely make people think twice before committing such challenges? I think the force and strength of criticism in mass media outlets might serve a purpose here, a purpose for which the FA are not fit.

The 21 year old lad has apparently got previous (he destroyed a Man City youth player) as well, and has tweeted frivolously about "two-footed" challenges. So he doesn't seem innocent, even if you put as little stock as I do in such tales.

I'm not making him out to be the victim but when you have to fear for the safety of yourself and family and can't walk the high street based on a horrific, but accidental injury you may have caused in a contact game then something is wrong.

That would be fine if it was accidental. Unfortunately it wasn't. It was deliberate and cowardly. I'm a man who lthinks tackling is becoming a dying art and it saddens me how soft we've become. But I've never liked cowards like McManaman, Keane, Jones etc who just try to end peoples careers with reckless tackles. The kid knew exactly what he was doing.

I don't believe it is for the public to threaten but I certainly won't shed any tears if someone decides its time for him to be on the receiving end of an overly aggressive tackle. Live by the sword and all that.
