This,Lacelles is ****e and how he started in front of Schar and Lejuene was beyond me when they were fit, that is.
I disagree, Rafa never leaves anything to build on. He builds squads and systems based on his very unique style. Defensive counter attack. Squads are often left with very narrow options. Rafa was a bad appointment for the fans. Negative football and no long terms development of the club, unless you just want to continue in that boring negative vein. What Rafa was, was the best person for Mike Ashley. He'd keep the club up every year without fail, because regardless of how **** it is to watch, he is effective. He'd do that on a tight budget. Its probably a bit unfair to term Rafa are 90's archaic which I have lumped him in with Bruce at times. Rafa is actually fairly unique and is more akin to a lot of Serie A type managers. Its cack though. I'm sick of waiting for a young manager, or at least a genuine manager like Bielsa who will leave a lasting legacy.
I don't care if you disagree you are as always incorrect.. I've never know a, manager take over nufc when they were in such good shape.. Usually it's the result of a sacking because the sides leaking goals and there's trouble in the dressing room. The club was in very good shape when he left... Certainly better than when he arrived If you try to dispute that I will make a mental note that you're dishonest and ignore anything you have to say on the subject again. I do agree with what you want... I want the same mind of manager appointed.. Someone young than has demonstrated an ability to coach in a modem high intensity passing game....
A minute on the clock: please log in to view this image I mean, Bruce is RIGHT ****ING THERE!!!!! He WANTS the team to look like that!!!! We are ****ED.
I can only see 10 players, who's missing ah yeah the player on our right hand side fs how narrow does that look.
ASM, a wing forward, and Hendrick, a CM, are out of position in a 1994 tactic. Brighton pushed three into the middle - all between the lines - which left both full backs exposed to the threats from March and Lamptey. I bet Potter was laughing his head off inside. He couldn't have thought anyone would set up that stupidly.
The thing is I don't think anyone thought Bruce was a good manager, but given the stable club he took over and the fact he's had 100 million and a year to work with the players I think everyone expected to be better than we are... I hope he can at least get back to 5 at he back and hit on the counter.. Its all about staying up, scraping points. I hope the rafa basher realise that's the reality now..
BTW I think Potter set a trap that Bruce fell into in his presser.. He said Carroll was good and would be a threat.. They've got 3 giant cbs... I think potter wanted the same side to play
I think you can play 5 (or 3, if you look at Brighton) at the back and still be positive in possession. It's about not humping it forward and movement off the ball, simple modern football. Our main problem is we are so.......goddam........sloooooooow with the ball. Hayden is uncomfortable on the ball, so is Fede/Lascelles. Shelvey wants to hit it long every, single time. Almiron is too rash. We only really have Hendrick who can transition play in the middle, and ****ing cabbage-heed has him wide right. It should be a back three, win it, get it to Hendrick who feeds off, to feet, to Almiron, Fraser or ASM and we transition quickly. Or transition down the wings with wing backs, and get runners in the middle. We don't have to be good at patterns, that's not the players we have, but rapid transition that doesn't involve Shelvey humping it 60 yards to Andy ****ing Carroll is where it should be at. We don't have a manager who can coach this stuff. Rafa did try, but was too defensive and suffered - more than Bruce - for a lack of quality player. Under Rafa, the striker was always isolated so the likes of Wilson would be wasted. Our players aren't very good at pass and move, it's always very predictable and we don't have enough quality to produce decent give & go.
We are like an unhappy married couple waiting for the kids to turn 16. Neither of us want each other, but we have responsibilities.
There are more Newcastle players on the screen and yet is you're the Brighton player on the ball you have players next to you and on both wings you can easily get the ball to in space. It's poor, very poor.
The players were poor but ultimately it was the system which let us down. Man-for-man the people we had on the pitch were more than capable of getting the result we wanted.
Mate, I'd just like to see a progressive formation played, even against Morecambe. The ****ing turgid **** Bruce is trotting out is beyond belief. The problem is we have no identity. There's not one footballer at the club that knows how we're trying to play or what the plan is. Are we attack minded? Direct? Is it down the wing, is it countering, what the **** is it? 4-4-2 is just nothing, it's nonsense. Hump it to Carroll to knock it on for Wilson?! Jesus wept. I mean, we had wingers and didn't produce a cross from anyone on the wing. As Pouchy says elsewhere, I am sick to ****ing death of 13 years of clueless, pointless nothingness.
This is just pure and utter bollocks for me. Its this kind of "Ashley" thinking that has got us into this mess. We don't need to be negative or defensive to amass enough points to stay up. This myth needs busted once and for all. We just need to be good enough regardless of the style we play. I think Leeds will probably stay up this year. They will do so playing attacking football. Modern attacking football. Brighton will likely stay up again, again they will do it playing a modern brand of defensive football. The 'reality' you speak about is our club is being kept in the past by an owner who doesn't want to be here and doesn't get football anyway. Rafa was another example of that, not an exception.
Yeah, exactly that - you can see the CF making the run to get the ball because it's so easy to play between the lines against 4-4-2. Starts off 8 vs 5 in our favour, then draw a line one second later after the pass and it's 5 v 4 in their favour because you've instantly eliminated all four midfielders with one basic pass. Spurs decimated So'ton earlier on that day doing the same thing - mobility of your attackers dropping, with runners from midfield and up the flanks from modern wingbacks. We have the players.
Right now I'm sorry but my point is entirely accurate. Answer this Does Bruce or has Bruce given you the impression we're working towards a functional possesion based game? We both know the answer to that question in NO, so we need to get back to using the rafa system until we're safe or Bruce is replaced. That's the point in making
