That’s fine. But I still say Tonali is our best ever midfielder. He’s an absolute beast. And the mix is perfect. Can we challenge for the title? Honest question.
When pope comes back fit he does not go straight in the team. Dubz made some great saves today and he has probably earned a new contract for me.
Let's go mental with "best ever" comments, those over 60 will start talking about Tony Green now. Tonali is awesome and on fire atm, let's just leave it at that.
Fair enough I am 45 so he’s the possibly the best midfielder I have watched play for us. He is an absolute machine and with Bruno and Joelinton we have a very nice balance. This team can beat anyone I think. Eddie has to get massive credit for me. I doubted him when he kept faith with Longstaff but he’s seen these three are immense.
Veitch played for us for 15 years, captained us to winning the title 3 times (out of the 4 we have in our history). He was also a playwrite and producer and founded the Peoples Theatre in Newcastle (whilst still captaining us). He fought in the war, personally re-capturing France. He wrote and negotiated the Treaty of Versailles and advised Einstein on the theory of relativity. Tonali has some way to go in my eyes. A good player yes, a great one? Not even that yet. I agree he could be though.
The nostalgic part of me goes back to Rob Lee, Tonali is probably better, but at the same time Rob Lee didn't have the support of Bruno and Joelinton either.
I say best ever midfielder with passion and in my lifetime. I can’t say otherwise. He’s just an absolute beast and I believe the PL now is elite levels where as in the past maybe not so. But then they took a tackle and got up even if they broke their legs. I genuinely believe we have an absolute diamond in Tonali and he owes us. So he’s with us for 5-7 years. We genuinely do have a very very good squad and probably a top six squad and that’s without strengthening.
Just similar styles of play for me. Bob Lee had that low gravity style which Tonali has. He’s as strong as an ox.
