    Hugely significant day today.

At best we can climb one place (above Saints) and close the gap on the mid-table bunch. But if we have a bad day, we could slip into bottom three, just 2 points ahead of Reading in 19th.

This is genuinely a must win game. A draw could leave us on the same points as Wigan & Villa if results go their way. We have to win. Simple as that.

So all the Toon faithful going along today, get behind the lads and cheer them on more than ever before.

    HOWAY THE LADS!

Don't even want to think of anything less than a win.

Me neither, but the consequences of not winning are becoming increasingly desperate by the game.

    It's crunch time.

    Update from NUFC.com

    Reading (h) GAME ON
United look for a much-needed first victory of 2013 this afternoon, when Brian McDermott's side visit St. James' Park for a 3pm kick-off. Tickets remain on public sale.

Weather latest from the club, Saturday:

Newcastle United are confident that Saturday's Premier League home fixture against Reading will take place.

There is around an inch of snow at St. James' Park, which at 8.30am was being cleared from the pitch.

Given the preparatory work that took place, and with the assistance of the Council, the surroundings of the stadium are in good shape and not a cause for concern at this time.

Based on the current position, the Club does not envisage any issues with the match going ahead.

Colo is match fit, Saylor isn't. So yes and I think Norwich showed he cares and is professional. Playing Saylor worries me more, he can't be fit to start unless he has played a practice match. We could end up doing ourselves more harm than good. I want him back but not for one game.

Saylor on the bench at best for me, definitely not a day to be trying out your freshly repaired injury in anger. Hopefully Cabaye starts and gives us a bit more class through the middle.

Will be watching on from a slightly snowy London today - hope you all enjoy the game if you're going

I feel sure Colo will be focussed as it is almost certainly his last game for Newcastle.

No doubt it will be a pretty emotional experience for him. He will want to go out showing the fans that he does care and has appreciated his time here.

Thats the most discouraging line up I've seen for a long time. Shola bench at best, and looks like we'll be playing 442. Would rather have seen perch in for jonas as well and played a 3 man midfield.

    ****s sake
