Last year I called the formation and team correctly, but with Ryan Taylor injured, I'm not sure who we can use to protect Simmo today. Might be a standard 4-4-2, probably with Cisse and Ba upfront, with Shola, Obertan and Ferguson coming on in the second half.

Would be a shame in a way to have Shola on the bench after what he did last year, but Cisse is a human enigma, so you'd play him as a potential match-winning maverick in my opinion.

Would personally prefer to see that today Tash, but still think Pardew will go for Cisse and Jonas.

One thing about the Jonas/Ferguson thing today is that Jonas offers great defensive cover, and has proven successful against Man Utd with his dribbling numerous times, so I wouldn't be surprised or upset if Jonas starts and Ferguson comes on when the defence is tired. Really tough team selection in those two roles today for Pardew so I don't envy him, getting them right could be crucial.

Rooney has always been kept quiet by Tiote in the games they've both played so far... hope it continues. I also think Jonas is going to start, Fergie to come on around 60th minute or so to provide the ammo for crosses for sure. Will he make it 4(or more) assists in 4 ??

I'll get wrong for saying this, however Jonas has been absolutely terrible all season so far! If we play 4-4-2 I'd like him to be dropped and play Ferguson left wing.

Personally can see us starting with 1 up top but if we do go 4-4-2 Cisse is a given (we need to save Shola for vs the mackems) and this might be the wrong game to give Fergie his start in the PL, not saying he wouldn't do well but would be a baptism of fire.

    I'd prefer:

    -------------Harper-----------

    Simmo---Perch---Willo---Santon

    -------Tiote-------Cabaye-----

    HBA----------Ba---------Fergie

    ------------Cisse-------------

I know Cabaye would be deeper but he's not afraid to put a tackle in, and I reckon he'd get more time on the ball by playing deeper.

I'm not too fussed on formation, don't think it will have much bearing. The main thing is our approach and attitude for me. We'd need to be on it from minute one and I'd like to see us go quite direct again like last year. Not pretty to watch but effective against them. Shola may be the better option from the start. Rio/Evans wouldn't fancy that tussle.

    3-1/4-2 isnt too unrealistsic.

We have heard talk of you fielding a very inexperienced CD partnership so going off the fact we have Mr Goal, sorry van Persie we can see us getting a few goals.

Truth be told there will be goals in this game, for both sides. Our defence is a joke itself and Ba is your Mr Goal.

I agree and the fact we will have Perch and Williamson at the back means goals at both ends for certain.

I'm not going to get to watch the game... As I think if I set foot out of my house my face will melt while lasers will shoot out from my eyes turning everything into custard.

I can see us losing today.. Can also see our team selection being baffling..

I hope to science there is no Giggs. Nowhere near the ****ing team.

If that happens then things immediately look up, **** defending, lets have a 5-6er <ok>

Pleased with that line up...looking forward to seeing Santon at RB and with Ferguson at LB we'll have two full backs that can pose a real attacking threat on the over lap for the first time in years.
