NUST Member Vote Result: 1892 Pledge Scheme
Voting closed for Members on the vote regarding the future of the 1892 Pledge Scheme on Friday 14th January at 17.00.

The Trust can reveal that Members voted resoundingly to agree with the Board and Gaurdian's decision to end the Scheme with 87% of eligible votes cast in favour of ending the Scheme.

Members have endorsed the decisions of both the 1892 Pledge Guardians and Trust Board to end the Scheme. As of 21.00 on 16th January 2022 all active subscriptions were cancelled for the Pledge Scheme and the Trust no longer collects money for the Scheme.

The Trust Board working together with the Pledge Guardians will begin the process in the coming weeks and months to distribute the money raised to charities based in the North East of England. The process will be thorough to ensure all money goes to those in need and that it is donated with a clear purpose in mind. Members will be consulted along the way and encouraged to help shape the process of charity selection and we will share more details of how this will take place in due course.

The Trust Board would like to thank Members for their support and their passion for the 1892 Pledge Scheme. We tried to do something unique for the benefit of Newcastle United and we have raised a huge sum between us that will benefit this part of the world and that means so much to us.

Thank you. We can’t wait to get to work and get your money into our community with your help and your approval.

Actually pleased to see some movement on this front. It was the most ridiculous scheme ever thought up in the history of braindead schemes, with no knowledge of how businesses operate whilst gobbing off at anyone who thought and believed the takeover was still on-going. Wheeling out conveyancing lawyers like some sort of ****ing experts on business law and having them take the piss out of De-marco was just funny as ****.

    We want your thoughts!

Below is a quick survey seeking your views on the season ticket situation at Newcastle United. Your views will then be used to present to the football club. The survey will close on Wednesday 18th May.

With Newcastle United securing Premier League football for the 2022/23 season, the debate around season ticket renewals and any available tickets has been the number one topic amongst thousands of Newcastle fans who clamour to get their hands on a golden ticket.

With this in mind, Board members from NUST conducted a series of meetings with fans who find themselves in various situations - these meetings included current season ticket holders and nonseason ticket holders. The purpose of these meetings was to discuss what the fans believed to be the fairest way to distribute any available season tickets.

As a result of these meetings, April saw the Newcastle United Supporters Trust submit this document outlining what we believed would be a fair process for the release of any available season tickets, as well as our thoughts on the renewal process.

The club recently released details about the renewal process for those who renew their season tickets yearly, as well as the new price for those who were on long-term deals that had come to an end. We recognise the concerns raised by fans who saw an increase in price following the end of their long-term deals, whilst thousands of others continue to benefit until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Whilst we welcome a price freeze for those who renew yearly, we have received concerns from fans about the sudden price hike for fans who have been loyal to the football club for decades, with no notice given that an increase was coming at a time when the cost of living crisis is out of control. As fans, we’ll always push for football to remain affordable, regular fans should never be priced out.

As was noted in the document above, fans who in 2008 paid upfront for three seasons were moved on to the ‘9 year deal’ in the summer of 2011, after which thousands of fans were given the opportunity to join a ’10 year deal’ in the February of 2011. That 10-year deal continues until 2024/25 after receiving numerous extensions, however, those who paid upfront for three years in 2008 have seen their deals end earlier, with an average increase in price of over £200.

As ever, we would always encourage the football club to liaise with supporter organisations and fan groups to discuss matters that affect fans the most, and with the club going through an enormous transitional period, we hope those discussions can start soon.

Demand for tickets is naturally very high, with games selling out within days and that will continue into the new season. Ahead of announcing the plan for releasing any available season tickets, the opportunity to discuss plans ahead of time I’m sure will resonate with those looking to gain access to St James’ Park and we’ll be asking the football club for that discussion.

Long read but it is for a good cause in the end

NUST - 1892 Pledge Scheme Update

    Dear Member,

The Trust Board is delighted to confirm that £200,000 has now been paid to the charitable organisations that Trust members approved for payment in September 2022. Confirmation of receipt from all four charities along with proof of payment can be found at the bottom of this email

We are grateful to the Trust’s membership for supporting the 1892 Pledge Scheme. Raising such a large amount of money in such a short time shows that dedication and passion our members have for Newcastle United, this city and region. The 1892 Pledge Scheme was thankfully never needed to save this football club and we are pleased that the funds raised have been paid to help people in this region who need our help the most.

Please see below letters of thanks from the four charities supported to you, our members. We will keep in touch with all four charities as the months and years progress to keep our members updated on the effects your 1892 Pledge donations have had on each charity and those the charities support.

    Congratulations on this incredible effort.

From everyone on the Trust Board, thank you.
