No not another thread extolling the virtues/downsides of Rafa or Bruce (or in Pouch's case Pardew) but select an 11 from the Newcastle managers over the years. To be honest its got far more potential than our current best 11. They have to be in place for at least 6months so unfortunately rules Shearer out Mine Willy McFaul Chris Hughton Jack Charlton Steve Bruce Glenn Roeder Bill McGarry Osvaldo Ardiles Ruud Gullit Graeme Souness Kenny Dalglish Kevin Keegan
I considered Pardew but he was a bit lightweight for me. Although based on his managerial display he is quite good with his head.
Pardew was more of an attacking midfielder I seem to remember. However you could replace Jack with Joe Harvey. There's also Steve McLaren to fit in in midfield (or maybe not).
I don't recall him playing. But considering how **** we were at set pieces under him I gathered it was nothing on an attacking sense
He played on the same school team as me. Played for York City Schoolboys and then went to Hull. He also played at Derby for a bit. He was an attacking midfielder.
@DPP says Mike Ashley=C*NT Have you considered what level he was playing at if he was in the same team as Jak?
I did but also remember him snoring a goal for Crystal Palace. Doubt Jak can keep up with that, or can he?
It’s not a question as to whether Jak can keep up with it more a question as to whether one of Jak’s servants could keep up with it.
So you couldn't keep up with him then as originally stated! So how was he on the same school team as you?
I thought we were talking about Steve McLaren! However apparently Wikipedia agrees with IamGroot and yourself on this matter: As a child, McClaren attended Nunthorpe Grammar School after passing his eleven-plus, preferring it over a closer school because of the emphasis which was placed on sports.[11] In order to attend he had to cycle a daily four-mile round trip across York. This is cited as an example of his determination to succeed in sport.[11] At school he played rugby, tennis, squash and was captain of the school's football team. He also played for York Boys under-15 team and represented the county of Yorkshire. Playing as midfielder, McClaren is remembered as being a "tiny" player but also "skilful on the ball" and "head and shoulders above the rest."[11]
