I'd be very disappointed if any of our players indulged in such infantile drivel ... ... I'd excuse the likes of Embleton as they're entitled to indulge in a bit of NE banter. Foreigners who trot it out are pathetic tbh.
Its not just foreigners. Remember the Trippier “Sunderland where you at” ****e from the Sam Fender concert? Just drivel to keep the knuckle draggers hanging on!! edit… Which is what this thread is all about!!! Note to self…. Read entire thread before posting at the end. Point about not just foreigners stands though!!
If you look from the beginning of this thread, that's the reason I started it in the first place 6 months ago
I said when Trippier had a dig cause there were some people at a concert in Newcastle, its like they have training in it!
I have no official figures to back this up. Nevertheless I'd estimate Newcastle adopt more players than any other club. They become 'adopted Geordies' for any amount of reasons ... ... scoring against Sunderland, dying, folding a pair of specs, winning a game against Man Utd or one of the big clubs. Ironically there are more Geordie supporting Sunderland than all their adoptions put together
When I worked at Ellington Colliery was amazed at how many SAFC supporters there Was there contracting Then moved onto Wearmouth colliery
I remember a black Newcastle player who said after a derby match at the SoL that it was the best atmosphere he had ever witnessed in football. One day later he was saying he was racially abused. I’m absolutely certain that he was instructed to say that.
We seem to be getting just a tad obsessed with 'Our Friends to the North' ourselves, on here. WHY? Within a few years they will be in that top tier, regularly competing in European competitions. At least they will for as long as The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is funding them. They are no longer our local rivals, and for all practical purposes we should ignore them. The days of a Wear - Tyne Derby being a, more or less, equal match, are over. Sad, but I can live with that.
Sad? Its quite liberating. They win things regularly? meh. They fail massively and their political link to their owners blows right up in their face? If Newcastle were ever gonna achieve any sort of success in my lifetime then this is their best way of them going about it selfishly speaking. Any other way and I'd be devastated
