I'd sell Mariappa for £3.5m if Newcastle bid that, and then just go and buy some other centre back for like £1m who could do equally as good a job.

I dunno about that, there are better defenders in the league, and we could try and get another Mike Williamson.....(without the toys out the pram stuff). I wouldn't say he's been our player of the season, yet alone "by a long shout".

He has 18 months on his contract.....and I reckon that £3.5m is a great deal for Mariappa...and the best we can hope to get. If there is interest from Newcastle then he surely won't sign a new contract with us......can we really afford to reject that kind of money? Going generally by our dealings...we could buy quite a few players to strengthen our squad and maybe find a player who we buy for cheap....and sell for millions.

Well I hope his head doesn't get turned but I think he is bigger than that, I would rather he stay that is all he may go in the summer but that is months away and we need him IMO;)

Player of the Season is between Mapps, Hogg and possibly Deeney. There's nobody else who comes close imho.

    Deeney?

I love the guy, because he's proof that work rate and determination alone can take you a very long way. But I can't seriously consider someone in contention for player of the season who doesn't score enough as a striker, and doesn't create enough clear-cut opportunites as a winger.

Probably Hogg - but I would'nt rule a surprise challenge from Nosworthy. Yes, he's only been here a short while, but his presence has worked wonders for the defence.

If this true great quote from the Gaffer <laugh> Watford boss Sean Dyche has blasted Newcastle for offering "pocket money" for skipper Adrian Mariappa, 25. The Hornets boss reckons his son has "got as much in his money box to buy him".<laugh>

Apparently, according to the Sun we're offering Deeney to Newcastle for £2m instead! Not sure where that came from!

BB you're right, Nos could be in with a shout too :)

Shame Doyley's not playing, it should be his this year lol

I've just received an email from the club with the header "50% sale ends 31 January!"

Wonder if Newcastle got the same one? <whistle>

If the bid was, say, £700,000 it would be interesting to see Master Dyche's money box...
