Unlike some clubs, we are not solely a cup team! We fielded our reserves in the League Cup like the other teams above you
Didn't even hear a whisper from the travelling Liverpool supporters today; it was so disappointing after hearing how 'amazing' they are and all.
According to deluded Kenny, you lot were still aiming for top4 last week! Going by that, we are still in the running
How do you work that out? Your having a brilliant season by your standards winning nothing and during our worst season in the league for years we've already won a trophy.
Unlike some clubs, we are not solely a cup team! We fielded our reserves in the League Cup like the other teams above you
Absolutely spot on mate.
Think you'll find you played as many of your squad players/reserves in your short stay in the tournament as we did on our way to winning it.
We fielded one or two first teamers however you were pretty much jam packed . True, I personally would rather have a trophy than just Europa League but if we got 4th (we won't but I am merely conjecturing here) then that would be above the League Cup However, my point stands. If you brag about the Carling Cup, then Liverpool as a club have gone backwards. I remember when you fans mocked Man Utd for winning that only not so long ago
We merely took advantage of pointing out how grateful utd were to win the trophy they take the piss out of that season. Tbf im only reacting this way towards the Toon because of the Geordie wum storm thats hit our board,i actually like the club and i wont let tonight alter my view As for finishing 4th or winning the CC,i agree a top 4 finish wins every time, but a top 4 finish was off our radar before the CC final imo so im happy with the next best option.
To be fair, we did play the likes of Wilson, Maxi, Flanagan, Robinson & Coates. If everyone in our squad was fit, not many of them would be in the first 11. Anyway, well done on today's result! It might have been ****e for Liverpool but I did have Cisse in my fantasy team! <everycloudandallthat> Good luck for the rest of the season!
No hard feelings mate. Just a debate . Nice to do it with someone and not resort to personal insults. Top 4 won't happen for us either so with that, yes I would much prefer the League Cup although in all honesty our aims are lower than yours (they should be anyway). I thought you guys would fly this season considering the start you got under Kenny when he took over! Still, the only way is up and all you need is a finisher. I am sure I read that you create the most chances per game
As Chris said,Good luck in your quest for 4th(rather your club than a London club)if not get 5th and we'll see you next season in 'the 'thursday night cup'
Cheers! Though with the form we are in and the form Everton are in, i'm not feeling too confident at the moment. Need results against Villa & Blackburn to give us some momentum going into the game!
the worrying thing for me is that it has gone from losing despite playing well and dominating games to just being plain ****e in the last two! The main benefit I can take from this current run is that the expectations will be lower going into next season. I think it has given everyone a reality check. Still trust Kenny to turn it around
From a Newcastle fan's perspective it looks like Dalglish has lost the dressing room. Players look disjointed, Kenny seems puzzled and there seems to be no heart being put into the matches.
With statements like that it's no wonder Liverpool get so much stick from rival fans on phone ins and on message boards. I'll give you a clue mate these are how the teams line up and the order that they line up in... Elite clubs - Man United, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs Mid table / Lower placed teams - Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle, Stoke, Sunderland, Fulham, Aston Villa, West Brom, Swansea, Norwich The dross - QPR, Bolton, Blackburn, Wigan, Wolves Liverpool haven't competed with the Elite clubs for three years now and you are currently closer to the bottom team than you are the top team. This doesn't look like changing any time soon, but for some reason your fans seem to walk around in this bubble with the mentality that you have a divine right to challenge and be in the top four. Liverpool have been let down by their scouting policy in the last two seasons and the squad still needs a lot of investment / building. Unfortunately with Comolli in charge of player recruitment and going on dealings so far I can't see him making the right calls for the greater good of Liverpool. The wealth of Man City and Chelsea cannot be matched and unfortunately Man United are always there or there abouts at the end of the season and the scouting networks of Arsenal and Spurs are much better than Liverpools. Until Liverpool overhaul their scouting network or get a bigger stadium then I really don't think you will compete with the top four again. There's already 5 teams vying for 4 places, so it's too much to ask. The sooner fans realise this and adjust their expectations accordingly this will take some of the pressure of the owners / management / players and the club will be better for it. At the moment you are in real danger of becoming the circus Newcastle were three seasons ago
