Dan James is not a good player. We got fleeced big time and wasted a lot of money on him. He did nothing at man utd yet we signed him.. Orta out.

Dunno. Maybe it was a wages thing and we needed to reduce outgoings in order to bring Gnonto in. Maybe Marsch had seen the potential in Summerville.

Would we have seen the emergence of Summerville if Dan James was still here? I'd say it's worked out okay so far as Dan doesn't seem to have forced his way in at Fulham and the likes of Summerville and Gnonto have surely increased in value by a big amount.

The most conservative player price guide is on transfermarkt.com and Gnonto now valued at £10m so a £6m uplift. Summerville now valued at £4m so a £3m uplift in price. Jack Harrison is now only valued at £25m and falling. Dan James only valued at £16m and falling

Surely with all the loan fees etc. that’s just about a break even price. He is 26 so just entering what should be his peak years, if they give him a 3/4 year contract I doubt they’ll make much profit so a sell on clause won’t help. Get the 35 million or tell them no.

I think we need to separate loan from signing fee. He helped us win promotion so the loan was value for money.

He’s getting into that contract running down time, he’s no genuine use to us. I remember saying I’d not activate his purchase clause of £15m and several pointed out it would be well spent as we’d get more back for him

They’ll offer 4 years, if he becomes hot property it will be two years time, they’ll get top price for a 28yr old

If he was valuable to us I’d agree but it’s £25m towards a new player or someone sitting on the bench likely to walk for free when his contract expires

We’ve already extended the contract of three CBs who are more than a little questionable

Yeh it’s a starter for 10 and nothing more transfermatkt. I think they use algorithms… we’d all be pretty p*ssed if we flogged Jimmy for £4m <cheers>

harrison’s hard to put a value on…I guess the answer is always what someone is prepared to pay…. But I agree with the debate that it really comes down to how useful he is to us. If Newcastle want him, they rate him, so they need to pay what we want if we think he’s worth if we think he’s expendable.

He hasn’t yet flourished under marsch’s narrow system… whether ‘hasn’t yet’ means ‘can’t’ is one for the coaching team.
If they don’t think he’s capable of being a 20m+ player for us we may as well trade him for someone who can.

If we can find a way to get Pulisic in with Harrison going to help balance the books then that would be good business. Highly unlikely though, unless Marsche could work some magic as top players want CL football and not a relegation struggle every season.

Without a more accomplished replacement (to play the central role asked of Harrison) we're not in a position to weaken our squad until the summer at the earliest, no matter what the fee. At least that's how it should be, but we all know that £35M and Jack will be on his way.

Looks like Villa now moving into the safety zone with a good win over Spurs

    Only teams in danger of going down are;

    Saints
    Forest
    Bournemouth
    Everton
    Us

That's it, everyone else will be safe without too much to worry about.

Pulisic starting again for Chelsea, so seems to be back in favour.

Plus with American owners it's likely they'd favour keeping him as they look to increase revenues fron North America.

Pulisic is not an option. His wages are way too high for us.

Not too sure about West Ham, they have us Wolves, Everton, then 3 tougher games, Newcastle, Chelsea, Spurs, before they take on Forest. Perhaps it will be clearer after those games

Agree with Gessa. Usually we say that the table takes shape by about Christmas time but with the world cup it will probably be another 2 or 3 weeks. If West Ham and Wolves don't pick up any results in the next two weeks I reckon they are in it for the long haul.

We have an important month ahead.

Watched Wolves yesterday and thought they were great. Already had a lot of good players but now got a top coach. They outplayed Man Utd in parts and needed a striker, which they now have and by all accounts another coming in plus another couple of players. Think they are way too good now….. but anything can happen with teams near the bottom and nerves

Didn’t see the wolves Man U game doc but they’ve played ok all season… just can’t score… Cunha is more creator than goal machine so be interesting who else they get in. West Ham the same, play ok, leak soft goals, strikers out of form. Could click for either side, might not.

It's my most popular saying about football but winning is a habit and so is losing. Wolves and West Ham should be good enough to get out of trouble but when you're down there and things are going against you it is incredibly difficult to get out.

    Forest losing btw.

We only have to finish above 3 teams.

Pulisic creates the first goal for Sterling, but don’t know about you but my view is that Potters Brighton played better football than Potters billionaire Chelsea? Is he better with unknown talent than established superstars?

That’s very possible… also maybe it just takes time to get everyone in synch with his way of playing. Chelsea certainly don’t look at the level of the other top sides.

Poveda playing as a 10 today was excellent and was marked as a 7.5 getting a 1-1 draw with Sunderland. Lewis Bate did the same in a 1-0 defeat for Oxford.Jacko after a great start at MK Dons now lost the last 2 so think he needs some loan players.. Cresswell on the bench again and no minutes probably needs bringing back and sending elsewhere. Shackelton on the bench again and given 2 minutes again
