When we loan Tom Cleverley from Man U Fergie praised Nigel for how he managed the player. Since then Nigel has signed alot of players from Man U. The Hull fans said it was because of the Warren Joyce link but that was only part of it. At Hull Nigel loaned/signed Corry Evans, Robbie Brady, Cameron Stewart, James Chester and Joe Dudgeon from Man U.*

Since Nigel came back we have signed Danny Drinkwater, Ritchie De Laet and Matty James from Man U and been linked with countless others.*

This year we are using Nigel's links along with Steve Walsh's scouting to sign player while last year we was using Sven's name and alot of cash to sign people.*

Nigel is still spending alot since he came back. Around 4-5M so far.*

So what would you rather? Dont base it on how sucessful the signings are put excitement wise etc. *The big money Matt Mills, Jermaine Beckford type signings? Or the unknown players like Ben Marshall and Jamie Vardy
 
...well I think it's all about building a team / squad of players that can work together, never really liked the idea of just collecting players like Sven did, makes great headlines but the sensible way to go about it is the way Mr P is doing it, young hungry quality players like Drinkwater has to be the way to go, maybe a few quality 'name' players on loan but we have to build a sustainable squad capable of lasting out the season... more power to you Big Nigel.. getting excited already...

For me it needs to be flexible ... you need a mixture of youth and experience, grit and artistry ... if you don't have the mix then the wheels are likely to come off. Eddie Kelly, Garry Parker, Roberto Mancini (brief but tantalising) Sir Les Ferdinand are great examples of players in the twilight of their careers who have excelled in the shirt particularly with talented younger legs around them ...

This <ok> doesn't matter to me, everyone thought that Svens tactic would get us up, as did the bookies, pundits and everyone else, but he just bought too many players of different styles that didn't work together.
The thing with buying all these Man U players is that they have all been trained the same, and most have already worked together, which can only be a bonus.

thats a good point about the united youngsters... as for barton I wouldn't go that far filberto, chimps yes, barton no, at least chimps have a bit of discipline and are on the whole cleaner..

I can agree that Barton's place on the evolutionary scale is somewhere behind chimps and marsupials and only just in front of inabitants of Coventry.

I think Nigel has more sense than to touch Barton, he's liability. We need to be building a team/squad that can play well together consistently, a mix of experience & youth. Players with flair but equally capable of digging in & grinding out results when needed. Barton would just be a major disruption, he's been given countless 2nd chances but remains a grade A prick.
