I'd also like to offer thanks to the staff at HRI maternity ward. Our midwife finished at 6am, but stayed an extra hour to allow for a smooth transition. When baby was on her way, we had a room with two doctors, three midwives, two student midwives, a midwifery assistant and an anaesthetist. It felt crowded but it really reassured my wife that so many people were helping out.

They do go the extra mile for their patients, couldn't be more grateful.
My wife will have taken mum and baby onto the ward. She's on the early shift this week. Congratulations to you both stirling

Congratulations to you all. Being a dad is utterly brilliant, while being knackering, worrying and sometimes frustrating. Now stop reading these posts and get looking after your missus. She's earned it!

We settled on Orlagh on the basis that people wouldn’t spell her name right if we went with the traditional spelling Orlaith!

She is free to change it when she is old enough!!

We gave our second daughter an Italian spelling of an equivalent English name. She suffered no lasting effects except for the time a supply teacher sent her to the remove room for 'refusing to spell her name properly'.

Now that was an interesting conversation I subsequently had with the Headteacher.

Edit:. I tell a lie, there was another one.

In Year 7 she came home upset one day 'cos some boys had started calling her Del Piero! <laugh>

<laugh> Well, we were down to two names; Orlagh and Vesper, and in the end, we went for heritage over James Bond. It might come back to haunt us in the future, but we can always have another child further down the line.
