I don't think Rooney would fit the bill, and personally think he is on the way down now. Ba has to go, but I agree with CP about Torres, he is still doing the business behind the scene's perhaps as there isn't so much pressure on him that way. I think our midfield need to stop lobbing high balls completely (and Cech lol).

Can someone persuade me as to why Modric ? I saw him play with Spurs but not much at Real so not sure about him. Although I see this morning Man U are possibly putting in a bid for him.

Torres shows glimpses, but I have stopped getting excited over brief patches of good form, however much I'd love him to do well. Ba is just so average - sell him now I think. Lukaku fits the business; deadly, dominates defenders, not afraid; however, the lack of European experience is perhaps a worry. I would love Lewandowski over any other striker mentioned. Absolutely top drawer; definitely the most 'complete' striker on the planet.
CDM wise its a toss up between letting Mikel push up field and become more mobile like he is for Nigeria with Ramires as well, or, as I'm sure everyone would prefer, we marginalise Mikel and bring in someone like Gundogan. Either way, with Chalobah, Romeu, Lampard, Luiz and even Oscar able to play there, I don't think Ramires - Mikel is a bad thing.
I'd sign a CB like De Vrij. Young, pretty gutsy, could be our own Nastastic.

Doubt Cortese will let you buy him for that, unless Shaw says he wants to move which atm he isn't. But I can see Shaw being sold to you one day.

For me the best deal for Shaw would be a buy (about 9m + add ons) and then loan back to Southampton for a year with an option to loan again

    Would suit all parties

Has Shaw signed pro terms yet???

If anyone's getting Cavani it's City so you can forget about that.

Quality player but 51 million plus massive wages for a 27 year old with no prem experience would be a big big gamble. FFS Chelsea get on Lewandoski!! 1 year left and Dortmund would rather not sell to Bayern.

When he plays deep , Rooney certainly looks the business. A change just might rejuvinate him, and he seems like he's finally maturing personally. I'd be very happy if he joined us.

Also agree with Varier2. Mikel is a different player for Nigeria, why on earth do we not use him like they do??

I agree, I wouldn't want to be spending that kind of readies on anybody again. Not a bad life he'll lead though <laugh>
