So then... it’s officially not going to be open this year.

Whoever decided to use that slogan stating our ground was the only place to see Champions League football in London this year is looking like a bit of a twat right now.

Like my second marriage, it probably seemed a good idea at the time........and now there's plenty of time to look back and regret it.

Disappointing that we’re not gonna move in this year. Can’t say I’m surprised though. Just watching Chris Cowlins videos shows that it still looks way off completion.

I wonder if we'll ever get the full story on what happened, though? Could be interesting.
Was it not the electrics? They often hold up major projects. Sorry electricians <laugh> my son in law is one. The rules and regs surrounding these things are onerous and complex, like most official things in modern Britain.

There were various rumours about sabotage, poor management or other alternatives doing the rounds.

Even on this thread we have negative comments.

This is not another delay-even if the hacks say it is.It is the same delay-we were never given a new date and
we had to let Wembley/PL/ opposition teams know where we will be playing next few games.
As above, they are now testing the systems and that takes a few weeks. we can't let the parties know a week before a game where it will be held.
However, don't be surprised if we do actually play a game at NWHL in December. We might have to pay a fine to Wembley for cancelling the venue but it will be financially worthwhile.
Being such a complex stadium , there is lots more to check before getting the all clear.

One thing that might work out in our favour is that the pitch will have had the time to bed in by the time we eventually play on it for the first time, yet if the ST/\DIUM opened on the intended date it would've probably only been installed two to three weeks earlier and liable to shift under a player's feet at the most inopportune moments - sort of like the surface at Wembley did for the first few years after it opened.

And still probably still will if American football is played there two days before. Could be a leveller v Citeh, such a shame, I was hoping to slaughter them.

I don't think he has got it quite right. I expect the increased loan faculty is partly to build the hotel and flats at south end of the site. I can't see that the spend can be that high over a few months of run over.
Assuming that the stadium loan ends up at 550m then that will cost about 20m a year in interest and another 20m in loan repayments. I calculate that the new stadium is worth around 100m a year in cash flow so we are still 60m a year better off when it opens rather than the 70m we would have been if it had been brought in on budget. Hopefully the hotel and flats will add some more cash.
