Off the pitch accolades as usual, nothing won on the pitch for 12 years and counting

We've had one really good period from 1960 to 1985 when we won 11 trophies. In the remaining 100 seasons that we've competed we won 6. That's one every 17 seasons or so. We've finally got owners who understand that winning trophies is an outcome that is maximised from having the best of everything off the pitch. Shortcuts don't work as the period between 1985 and 2001 when Levy took over shows.

ENIC and trophies don’t mix <laugh>

They’re more interested in profit than glory

There is no way to maximise profit without maximising the chance of winning trophies. You are confusing outcomes with plans.

Let's ask Portsmouth how the opposite worked out...

Or Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd or Liverpool?

The fact that your go-to response is to bring up teams who necessitated the creation of Financial Fair Play implies you didn't think too hard before typing

    Man City or Chelsea?
Really ... you are suggesting they did anything other than getting taken over by people richer than God????

What ever criticism there is to be made of ENIC (no matter whether we as spurs fans disagree or not) using these 2 as examples of risk taking is way off the mark

City and Chelsea have spent their owners' blood money and been caught cheating.
Utd and Liverpool have much, much bigger budgets than we do, as have a few others during ENIC's ownership.
How would you like us to compete in the long-term without breaking FFP or being taken over by dubious murderers?

You picked an extreme example so why can’t I?

Its not even the lack of investment that particularly bothers me, I just don’t like the way the club seems to be slow to sign players and how they seem to haggle over minor amounts which has resulted in losing out on players which imo would have made a massive difference. I don’t expect Spurs to be going for the likes of Mbappe or Neymar but losing out on Bruno Fernandes over the structure of the fee is sickening.

In fairness there are a lot of extreme examples to choose from...
    Portsmouth
    Leicester (administration twice from 2001-2005)
    Southampton
    QPR
    Coventry
    Crystal Palace
    Leeds
    Swansea
    Sheffield Wednesday
    Sheffield United
    Bradford
    Sunderland
    Ipswich
    Bolton
    Blackpool
    Leeds
    Blackburn
    Nottingham Forest
    Charlton
    Wigan
    Hull
    Birmingham

All of these clubs were in the Premier League in the past 20 years.

9 were in the premier lesgue in the last 10 years.

Only Leicester, Southampton, Palace and Sheffield United have properly recovered.

15 of them were established premier league teams.

On top of this Fulham and Villa were supposed to be in severe difficulties before the **** down.

I have only included teams in the top division otherwise I could have added in Oxford, Luton, Notts County, Bury, Orient...I could continue.

Do you really not realise that citing teams with vastly more wealth than we have immediately invalidates your own argument...but all four of them also put profits first?

Saltypool merely had to sell Philippe Coutinho for over £100m to rebuild their ****ing team
Man Utd were swimming in oceans of cash off the back of various licensing deals and getting the lion's share of Sky matches (when Uncle Rupert just so happened to have a 9.9% stake in the club...) so saying they put trophies first is simply wrong
Chelsea have long looked to balance the books by buying up prospects such as Karim Rekik, Nathan Ake or Bertrand Traore cheap, loaning them for a few seasons and selling them at a huge profit...which also happens to be an attempt to fudge FFP
The Sheikh Mansour Team not only copy Chelsea's method of buying prospects but have an entire cartel with branches in La Liga, MLS, the J-League, the Uruguayan Primera Division, the A-League etc to hoover them up, send them to Manchester, and then loan them out to fatten up their values

That's the problem: Portsmouth aren't an "extreme" example, they're the perfect example of a team whose approach was spend, spend, spend - and where has that got them?

And that's just in this country. If you look further afield you could include

    Monaco
    Real Betis
    Deportivo la Coruna
    Parma
    Palermo
    Rangers
    Dnipro
    Anzhi Makhachkala
    Rapid Bucharest

You are totally missing the point. We've invested in things that matter in the long term. You lack ambition. A trophy every ten years isn't success. We need to become like Man Utd, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
