Ironically, having lived the first 35 years of my life in Harlesden, the only time I have ever been mugged was on the White City estate after watching QPR v Liverpool some time in the 80s. Two of us had stayed in the bar after an evening game and were making our way back to the car at about 11pm when we were set upon by 6 or 7 youths. Outnumbered.

As mentioned previously, this won't be a stadium it will be an arena. Home of QPR and multi purpose arena outside of that. That's where the money will come in, that's where the multiple transport links will be able to draw people from all over the country. Shrewd business by the board if it comes off. The only concern is that the arena will become more entertainment and less football if it is as hugely successful as the O2.

Well you want close stands for concerts as well, maybe they could even have the NHL matches there instead of the O2, Id love to see the Flyers playing at the home of QPR.

Queens Park Rangers - our humble beginnings and the possibility of returning to our roots with the new stadium proposal?

I believe this could be a wonderful opportunity for our club and future generations of R's supporters.

QPR was founded in 1886, when a team known as St Jude's (founded 1884) merged with Christchurch Rangers (founded 1882). The resulting team was called Queens Park Rangers, because most of the players came from the Queens Park area of North-West London. QPR became a professional team in 1889 and played their home games in nearly 20 different stadia (a league record), before permanently settling in Loftus Road in 1917 (although the team briefly played at White City between 1931–32 and 1962–63 in the hope of attracting larger crowds).

Queens Park Rangers played on two grounds within Park Royal. The first was the Horse Ring, the site of the now-demolished Guinness Brewery, on the Royal Agricultural Society's show grounds from 1904 to 1907 which had a capacity of 40,000. When the Society sold the grounds in 1907, QPR moved to the Park Royal Ground, 400 yards south, an almost exact replica of Ayresome Park, with a capacity of 60,000. The club were forced to move out in February 1915 as the ground was taken over by the Army.

    Park Royal tube station

In recent years, Park Royal has been a site for illegal squat parties, due to the presence of disused industrial buildings and remoteness from domestic housing.

See Bushman's photos of Park Royal Stadium:-

A new stadium at Old Oak Common could mark a return to the transportation experience of yesteryear - off the train and into the stadium:-

"Rangers started the season playing at the Royal Agricultural Society Ground at Park Royal which had a ground capacity of 40,000. They moved to the Park Royal Stadium, built by The Great Western Railway Company. Opened in November 1907, held 60,000 including 9,000 under cover 4,000 seated and had it's own train station." (Bushman)

It is public policy to maintain Park Royal as an industrial area. It is designated as an Opportunity Area, and in 2008 the Mayor of London's office published a draft Planning Framework which aspires to maintain, "growing economic clusters of food/drink, transport/logistics and television/film." The framework does not preclude use of parts of the site for housing.

In summer 2011, the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham launched a 'Park Royal City' plan for Old Oak Common, based around the immediate eastern border of Park Royal, including light-rail lines to nearby areas.

A potential new 40,000 all-seater stadium has been included in the Old Oak Vision document

Queens Park Rangers have confirmed they are in talks over building a new 40,000-seat stadium as part of a redevelopment scheme at Old Oak Common.

The area in north-west London is to be the main hub station in the capital for the HS2 high-speed rail project.

A consultation was launched earlier in the summer on proposals which could see 19,000 new homes and 90,000 jobs.

A QPR spokesman said: "We are looking at a number of potential options for a new stadium."

"We believe that Old Oak could provide one possible solution," he added.
