Seeing the stand from another angle... The top left corner looks weird where there is an empty space and the bottom right corner has 2 pillars blocking your view. And are all those pillars in necessary? Apart from that, it does actually look nice.
Cant understand why they didn't join the one on the right looking from the Thatcher's end to the new one and the one currently on it's left looking from the subs bench side of the pitch
It is strange that there's no windshield on the Eastern end of the stand - unless it's not yet complete and they're soon going to add it. Or perhaps they've left it off because the rebuilt East Stand in phase 2 of the development will be joined to the new South Stand? Either that or that section will be the away allocation and we want them exposed to the elements! The two supporting pillars on the Western corner of the stand are a necessary evil due to the design. I'd imagine that the corner seats behind them will be cheap and sold as "restricted view". All in all I think it's a good looking stand, and, let's face it, it's the first stand the club has built in about 70 years! It would have been nice to have a cantilevered stand without the uprights supporting the roof, but I doubt there's enough room at that end for one, it would have cost double and would've taken a lot longer to build.
It could be that they will join the south east corner of the new stand with phase 2 of the redevelopment when the East Stand is rebuilt - possibly why they left the windshield off at that end.
The safety advisory group are meeting the club tomorrow to discuss the new Brunel South stand, if SAGs requirements are met they will be able to run tests at 50% capacity which can start from tomorrows game against Norwich. If approval is granted additional allocation of tickets will be made available for our supporters to purchase online tomorrow
Safety Advisory Group happy so the South Stand will be open at 50% capacity tonight - should be a 10k crowd.
South Stand capacity for the Exeter game will be 75% and if all goes well it will be fully open at 100% for the Oxford fixture.
Tickets for the new south stand v Oxford £10 for adults £1 for under 14s as they try to get to the 75% level, if this is achieved without problems then the match against Burton Albion and onward will be 100%. The last two home matches have not helped the club achieve this target, unless there are new players on board or to be introduced to the fans pre match it could be a struggle Anybody who has already purchased a ticket at the full price will be given a credit via ticket master for use in the future purchase of tickets from them
