Taken from Swansea OS.... http://www.swanseacity.net/news/art...-rovers-loan-2994599.aspx#RTf00DEzz2mTcCdx.99 McBurnie excited by Rovers loan . . . young Swan targets promotion with loan club. Young Swans striker Oliver McBurnie is relishing a promotion charge with Bristol Rovers after joining the club on loan. The 19-year-old, who arrived at the Liberty last summer from Bradford City, will remain with the League Two club for the remainder of the season after completing his loan switch on Monday afternoon. McBurnie joins a Rovers side that is currently sixth in the fourth tier, with the Scottish Under-21 international hoping to receive international clearance to play in Tuesday night’s home game with AFC Wimbledon. And he is looking forward to gaining more experience of senior football, having already netted a hat-trick on his debut during a loan spell at Newport Country in November. McBurnie said: “As soon as the opportunity came up I was very keen to take it. I’ve had loan spells with Chester and Newport while I’ve obviously played for Bradford during my time there, so there’s nothing quite like playing first-team football. I’ve really enjoyed playing for our U21s, but the opportunity to get first-team games is something I must take. It’s great to join a team that is on the up. The team’s goal is to get promoted, and hopefully I can play a part in that. I’ve never experienced promotion, so that would be a great moment for me.”
He's Scottish playing for a Welsh club just as our Gosling loan to Newport needed international clearance I personally think that if they play in the ENGLISH league it shouldn't be required and if they want this clearance every time then Swansea Cardiff and Newport should play in the Welsh league
Gastro I saw the under 18s play awhile ago and I would put Ollie Mehew ahead of Easter, he's quicker and not afraid to shoot
I hope this signing doesn't upset our young players. I can't believe Matt or Ellis will feel particularly enchanted.
There's no danger of this lad growing a trendy beard this side of Christmas! Gangly, thin; he looked like a deer released from an enclosure. BUT, he chased and harried, and got up to head the ball on..... A promising debut. I don't see him starting a match yet, but with DC's selection policy who knows?!
His willingness to harry and close down defenders reminded me of Rory Gaffney he looks as if he could be quite a handful. Very impressed
