Maybe the players do know what the board's ambitions are, but have been briefed not to publicly mention what those ambitions are so as to temper expectations incase anything goes wrong and we fall a little short. Maybe due to the recent changes they too want to see actions rather than words about how those ambitions will be achieved before they fully buy into it. As many have said before, either Pochettino signing a new deal, or replacing him with a truly top name manager will be the only way to start the calming process.
Like us, the players probably don't get informed directly about the board's plans which are still being formulated. Next week will be very important, but again there will probably be no announcements....we will just be watching the plans for preseason like hawks. Mauricio signing a new contract would be fantastic, but he doesn't seem like a man in a hurry...doesn't mean he won't sign eventually, but he will probably keep his options open as he still has a year to run. Les Reed came out and tried to stop all the rumours (fed partly by the board itself not recognising that one inadvertent word will be blown out of proportion). However, didn't settle the fans as we are all neurotic. He said that we don't have to sell, money is available, and Katharina is being supportive. So he didn't say we were going for the Champions' League....that doesn't mean that they have no ambitions.
Trouble is, does the average fan understand the difference between building towards CL over the next 3-4 years and spending like Spurs did in an attempt to do it in a year. I want to see 2-3 really good signings this summer but don't expect top 3 next season. I hope the players understand the importance of a sustainable approach and a bit of patience. I have waited all my life for a Saints team with ambition. I can wait another year or two without a problem.
I see NewsNow are keeping up with our progress tonight! http://www.sportspromedia.com/news/prestige_sponsor_boosts_southampton_football_clubs_coffers/? Check the date.
Anyone heard that Adidas will not be the shirt provider next season, someone tweeted it will be Cabrini! I think they meant Carbrini who have supplied kit to lower league teams.
The first google image I find, it's identical to our old JPT era kit http://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/cms_images/common/davies-4x3125-794296.jpg
Actually, seems Exeter's kits are now supplied by Joma. This is the one from 11/12: please log in to view this image
I guessed that when the poster couldn't even spell it correctly, I wonder who it will be, as usual we will be the last to know, deja vu.
It's not Carbrini or any big name brand. Cortese cancelled from Adidas in October/November and as a result we decided to go with a company who, as far as I know, haven't made football kits before. It's not really their market. But it is very much only a one year thing whilst we get a proper replacement. Is that any better for you?
