And going off the earlier timescale we cancelled in early December, a month before Cortese went and then were right back to them in March. I swear amongst all the wild speculation (which I hate to add to) there's been several mentions of companies involved with the club complaining directly to Katharina about Cortese. I guess it's obvious to see what I'm getting at - am I putting 2 and 2 together and making 5, or what?
You're right about companies complaining to Katharina's London-based PR representatives about NC. We haven't really gone crawling back to them. Next season's design has been finalised and the new kit is already in production and was in March too. I think we're just trying to tidy things up and not make Adidas an impossibility for any future deal.
Bollocks to adidas. I think we need either a manufacturer who just makes ours, or at least one that will make it to order. None of this template bollocks.

Apparently liverpool will now be getting £16m a year from their training kit sponsor. twice as much as everton get from their headline sponsor and who knows how much more than we'll get from veho. depressing. sorry.
Which comes back to the other discussion on the value/exposure if the Premier League versus the Champions league. The sponsorship is probably more effected by fan base size.
We are virtually toddlers in the EPL...made an impact last season, but can't expect to compete with the big boys for sponsorship...especially with a stated intention to have an ethical company i.e. not money lenders or bookies. I'm sure we got the best we could.

I don't think it's an argument of CL vs PL for visibility. It's more a case of global brands. Liverpool could have been out of europe for the next 10 years and still be a massive global brand. equally Spanish teams other than Barca and Real have nowhere near that kind of appeal even when they are in the CL and in the latter stages. Teams like Valencia, Deportivo etc are only on a similar level to us I would suspect and behind the fashionable for no reason clubs like West Ham and Fulham. Teams that have already built that global fanbases such as Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, etc don't really need CL to keep their fanbase. It maybe helps to increase it a bit but the PL is watched every weekend by every country whereas the CL is watched by a lot less people more infrequently. If the top clubs were forced to choose PL or CL, they might want to take CL as it is perceived as a more prestigious achievement to win but their accountants would be giving them the opposite opinion. The PL makes so much money because so many people watch it and are prepared to pay more for it. Unfortunately for Everton they aren't as big as Tottenham. They have achieved more in a way over the past 3 decades but Tottenham is more fashionable and despite winning nothing Tottenham have a massive global fanbase. We are still some way behind Everton still as well. One thing that Cortese would have been doing is scouring China for a player that he could sign even if that player was not good enough for the PL. If he could get a player from China and that player could be brought on for 5 minutes a game, Saints would have a magic bullet immediately in terms of commercial value. I would bet that most PL clubs are looking for that magic bullet in China.
