To be honest I can't be too disappointed with the result at the weekend. We made some howlers in the first few minutes of course but I dunno about you fromthestands, but I was just looking for signs we would be continuing on where we left off last season. There was plenty of that. We looked rusty, not completely sharp and some of them carrying a bit of timber - but all to be expected. Chelsea had the benefit of a much more competitive pre-season. We'll ramp it up.
I'm not going down to Southampton - for the second time in three seasons the away trip I was most looking forward to coincides with a wedding. That could go either way - newly promoted teams always unknown quantities, particularly in their first game back after a decade (?) Plus they'll be looking at us as the most winnable game in their first four. It's quite possible that we'll surprise them though.
