F1 now evaluating elimination qualifying tweaks for Bahrain Formula 1 may hold back on reverting to the old style qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix, amid a last-minute push to trial a tweaked elimination format instead. Ahead of key votes that are to take place over the next 24 hours, sources have revealed that there is a move to keep the new elimination format for Q1 and Q2 (with extended running), and change only the final session back to how it was last year.
FFS! Just when you think they can't make themselves any more of a laughing stock. If only they weren't turning the sport into a farce.
This is the problem with the voting system - it needs to be a majority or X percentage of votes not a veto vote by any one team.
I wonder if this is anything to do with Force India? I read yesterday that FI did not vote to revert back to the old quali format. So I wonder if FI are trying to squeeze a few quid from Bernie and it is making him call their bluff? Once again the voting system that Bernie created is damaging the sport. Quali is not the problem, it's the reliance on aero stopping cars getting close enough to try and overtake. We need more mechanical grip and less Aero but Red Bull would never vote for that would they!!!! Back to vote problems.
This made me laugh, because the new qualifying format was well thought out, precise and pre planned . The belief is rather than taking a knee-jerk reaction, the elimination system that made its debut ahead during the Australian Grand Prix weekend should be given another chance, and then be thoroughly reviewed ahead of making potential tweaks.
Dear F1... I'm just going to leave my phone number at the front desk. Please give me a call when you quit ****ing up the sport. K thx bai!!!
If I hear one more person on the radio/TV bang on about all the good Bernie has done and how he's irreplaceable, I am going to lose my sheet!!! How do they think other series survive and grow? He's got everybody scared of having their press passes revoked. Both he and the FIA are effing useless.
I hope C4 use this to stand up. Ask the questions at the press conferences. Don't toe the FOM line. Ask the bosses at the Friday conference how they'll cope with sponsorship losses. Ask why they don't care about the fans. The more awkward the question the better.
Seems to me like Sky got scared that C4 are doing better job of coverage. So before C4 had a chance to cover a F1 weekend live and get some audience figures Sky waved some money in front of Bernie and the hand shake was done! Not saying that C4 would have bid for F1 but without their own viewing figures they had little to formulate a bid with. Sad day, then again 2019 is a few years away.
Can't you see Bernie and his lackies are trying to end the support via broadcasting/regs etc, rather than sell it to someone competent
