No it doesnt. Are they going to put houses on there? No. They turned down a kingswood extension to protect the city centre. So they aren't going to let more shops go there. A hotel? Really? I don't think so. What else is there?
Surely a deal could be completed and then work on a separate deal with the council for the surrounding land. Not sure how I feel about them only wanting to buy us if they can get the land to develop.
I think it would make much more sense to sound out the Council regarding any land development before spending an alleged 40 million on a football club.
Tbf the land surrounding the area is the one major pulling power we have .. the fan base is nowt special .. the stadium isnt ours .. the team we currently have are manfully trying but they aint gonna win mega bucks in Europe .. the merchandising aspect will only be local with a few odd excpetions and we currently languish in the lower half of the championship with few saleable assets. You have to be a realist and say the only thing that could possibly attract investment is the surrounding area.
Wouldn't be any point. Even if the fault is 100% due to HCC being awkward and backward looking, the Allams will still get the blame, and the same Councillors will get voted back in again and again. Bit mental if you ask me, but credit to HCC for managing it like this, for ever.
The area surrounding west park could be developed and thus provide income .. and here i was thinking your a businessman !
Dear Blacknamberblood, West Park can’t be developed, it’s designed public parkland. Love. A Businessman
Worryingly, Duffers / the consortium will have been discussing with the council for at least a few weeks now. Maybe even months. If they r still seeking assurances then i really dont hold out much hope. I'm thinking its effectively dead and it's back to square one for the Allams.
The land surrounding it is already leased by the club and can already be developed. Only West Park and the fair site aren’t available and that’s unlikely to change.
So the areas SURROUNDING West park is alaready ownwd by us ? And its a simple question so no need for smart arse comments
I still don't fully believe this story. Ok, the deal may be delayed but surely the status of the surrounding ground would have come up in due diligence? Would the Allams pull the deal when they have seen the cash? I doubt it. So long as the deal goes through by mid Jan I am not too bothered. We will have a list of targets already, these can be done in a couple of weeks
