Who said it came from the club? All the club spokesman said was it was business as usual. I would think Duffen's group could confirm things? This distrust of any information gets a bit tiresome.
It doesn't make sense for anyone to be shouting about being close, unless it's because they want people to think it is.
Er.. Yes. Because it is. When the allams were buying the club we got similar updates, and then they bought it.
We got similar updates from the same people giving them now. The Allams. They love a bit of publicity.
When the Allams were buying the club we got a last minute (the night before it was confirmed) scare that the deal was off. Knowing the Allams as we do now, that will have been their usual brinkmanship. They're obsessed with their own negotiating prowess. But more to the point, why would they want to let us know it's close? Just to keep fans informed necabec they care so much anoabour feelings? Yeah right. Anything that comes out of the club is for their own benefit.
It won't be over until it's over, plenty could happen yet. Like the bloke who jumped off a 20-storey building, as he passed each floor on the way down people heard him saying 'so far so good', 'so far so good',...
Again, I must have missed where the article suggests its the club announcing its close? All the article suggests is the hdm has a source and the club is effectively saying business as usual no comment. If anything they're playing down the reports.
“As has been mentioned in a recent press interview, the club is currently going through a sale process with the hope and desire for this to be completed before Christmas,” a City spokesperson told the Mail. Doesn't sound they're talking it down to me.
Maybe. I'm doubtful that anyone from Duffen's side would be talking openly to the media about being very close. Normally with anything going on in and around City a few people are in the know. The local media tend to know a lot more than they can print for example. But with this takeover stuff it's extremely quiet. Journalists are scraping around to find information and failing. It's clearly being kept well under wraps.
That's not giving any new information, just referring to ehabs interview. Basically saying we have nothing new to say.
I don't know in what order these things happen but do we assume the supposed new owners have been deemed 'fit and proper' by the EFL?
on the basis that the Allams **** off, any new owner by definition be more fit and proper than the departing two ****s
From this new story - and as something of a long-term cynic on any deal the Allams have supposedly done to sell the club - I simply take it as: "These things take ages, we're still going through numerous processes, nothing has been ****ed up. Yet." We're essentially clamouring for news when there is none at the moment. And this is simply informing us that no news is, in this case, not bad news.
When ever there is an information vacuum people will fill it with rumours and gossip. I see today's "news" as one of three things (depending on your personality) Positive person: News agencies have heard a deal is close and have been digging. Club release statement to keep the them happy Negative person: News agencies have heard the deal is falling through. Club release statement to keep interest up Fantasist: Club decide to keep fans informed on developments at the club
Most fans simply do not trust the Allams – not in word or action. So much so, I’d personally reckon that if the first team results weren’t verifiable, they’d probably put out that we’re unbeaten and top of the league. So, the idea that these takeover bids are over-egged or simply bullshit machinations of theirs seems a logical response within the culture they’ve created. Also, fans’ hopes have been raised before and many are at an understandable seeing-is-believing point of reaction - is it really that surprising that many fans have such cynicism towards this happening?
