Quite. Sutcliffe clearly has a direct line to Ehab. I'm still not sure I believe the 'three bidders' thing. Enquiries/interested parties, yes, but bidders? Hmmnnn...
The council seem to be stony-broke. They've cancelled the refurbishment of Ennerdale Leisure centre (which was due to close on 15th October for four months) right at the last minute. I reckon they would welcome a sale of the KC stadium at a fair price of course, along with the sale of the eyesore which is Walton Street fair ground.
24 hours doesn't mean 24 hours 14000 attendance doesn't mean 14000 attendance and 3 bidders means we only have 1 bidder but we'll pretend there's 3 to keep him keen
In which case that’s great news! That is of course if they don’t turn out to be of the same ilk of the dear doctor and his sprog
The Council have absolutely no interest in selling the fair site, they see the fair as one of Hull's flagship attractions and won't entertain flogging it.
Sorry. Your avatar is similar to Mr Bob's so I thought I was replying to him, hence my flippant answer.
As I understand it KC, the spat was that they wanted the council to GIVE them the stadium not that they wanted to buy it.
Yes and when Bruce said he'd like to buy a quality striker but would have to sell the Humber Bridge he wasn't joking Ehab was asking to given it as a gift.
Makes perfect sense that a buyer would be interested in the stadium, land and development. Its needed. However, a key point is that it doesnt have to involve Walton Stteet CP, the park or interfere with Hull Fair. Allam had a much bigger vision of transforming the whole area. All a buyer would likely want is the KC, its immediate surrounds and sufficient of the waste ground. A potential win-win (investor, club, HCC and general public). Personally I'd like someone to take the whole lot and develop it, but almost certainly wont be allowed to happen, and anyway isnt likely to be necessary for the new buyer.
Does HM Government have the power to force HCC to sell the stadium, land etc if HCC digs its feet in ground about the £ucking fair? Anyone know. The council appears to be skint so surely anyone wishing to purchase the assets, for a decent price, would be welcomed as a way of increasing revenue and funding other HCC projects.
things like this are exactly why Hull will continue to be way behind other UK cites! What an absolute backwards way of thinking! What realistically does the fair generate income wise for the council?
If Duffens consortium had exclusivity regarding DD until last Sunday, then I can't see how any other party, never mind two, could formulate an offer within 72 hours post their own DD, its impossible. So the bottom line is may be two further interested parties (not BIDDERS), and if that is true they are way behind Duffens in attempting to strike a deal. FACT!
