Brighton owner Tony Bloom has just bought Belgian second tier side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Nice to see a British owner buying an overseas club, bit of a gamble, but he is used to that I guess.

So, for £22 million you get a ground which cost £30 million 3 years before the KC was built and holds only 300 less, the training grounds and the team. For £70 million you can buy the name of a club which owns nothing. And if you want the stadium the deluded Geraghty thinks you should pay more than what the KC cost as house prices have gone up. Can't understand why we don't have people queueing up.

Sunderland sold for 40 million. Ellis Short has written off the debt. Good job both Wigan and Sunderland lie in Greater London.

Hull City own the rights to over £30 million in parachute payments. I for one am pleased Geraghty didn't sell the stadium to the Allams.

Absolutely - I’m not sure whether the Allams could have separated the ground from the football club but if they could have I’ve no doubt we would still have no ground and the Allams would probably have a lot more real estate

The Black Cats are under new ownership.

Stewart Donald has completed his takeover of Sunderland from Ellis Short.

And as I suspected, they're actively seeking investment as Donald has admitted he isn't backed by a consortium.

Hopefully works out for them. I know I'd rather us be skint but with owners working in our best interest.

It's clearly all fake news, clubs up north outside of the PL aren't attractive enough for changes in ownership.

Obviously owning their own stadium helps.

I believe the original plan was a consortium. This was set aside to expedite the fit and proper test with the FA. The revised application must have shown they had sufficient funds without external backers. As Short has written off the debt they are up and running.

Maybe, but I think that their (former) owners actually wanted to sell helped a whole lot more!

Compare what you get for the £22 million at Wigan and the £40 million at Sunderland compared to what you would for £70 million at City and it isn't much of a contest, particularly Sunderland with their fanbase as well.

So, if you set the price high enough it's exactly as I suggested - the club isn't realistically for sale at all is it?
