It's what happened to Villa, they were around the bottom for a while and eventually it got them. Sometimes a team needs to go down to improve and sort their **** out. Newcastle did it before and I think they'll do it again, they'll come back stronger.
To be fair they didn't come back that much stronger as they rode that wave for a few years then went down again. They had a good finish (from memory) when they came back up but it only lasted so long.
Wigan too. They seemed to be bottom for ****ing months and suddenly win the last few games. They only finally got relegated because they had their minds on the FA Cup.
Agreed. It's why as a newly promoted club I always hate the cup. Even though we got to the final, which was great, I was a bit worried that it would affect our league form, especially given that we weren't mathematically safe until after the semi final. Given the turmoil at the club that we've had, I'd happily hand cup duties to the U21s and focus on the league.
I agree and we'd have stayed up, but the Allams would have got a lot more praise than they do now, so we'd be in a worse state than we are now.
Minds on the cup competition should never be a problem with a good manager. Bruce let players take time off when we had a run in the FA Cup and I thought that was weak.
Why should people pay to watch a team that can't be arsed though? One of the problems with Bruce was that he kept with players even if they performed crap, there was no real competition. We've yet to see if Phelan is better there, but I hope he is.
There is no news, only things like "expected to be" "could be" "may be" "should be" This is the Allams we are talking about, anything could happen or not if you know what I mean.
The chances of it not happening now are absolutely tiny, it's all agreed and papers signed, there's massive financial penalties if either party decides to pull out.
OK but my champers is staying on the ice. I wouldn't trust the petty vindictive childish ****s as far as I could throw them.
100%. I will never believe any of it to be true until there's something absolutely official. Until then, I'll continue to expect the worst from those ****s.
What I'd like is Look North and Sky Sports there to see 'them' drive off.... with a cordon of well wishers....
The council could arrange a celebration party at City Hall / Queen Vic square. The fans are owed two promotion party's.
