That's twitter but essentially, it's half egotism, half vital networking info for some lines of work that require it. If done properly and wisely, leaking certain things can be of real value to the individual/business.

I agree though, I think it's ridiculous if you're posting about your personal life "going to fetch the kids in my new car" type of crap, but from a business/marketing point of view, it's incredibly useful and borderline vital these days..
