Must go down in their transfer history as one of the worst. Bullardesque. What was the figure? £15m rising to £16.5m with add-ons? They sold him to Stoke for £6m.
We had just been relegated from the PL and he had spent £80m already ( have I mentioned that?) then he came back asking for more money. So we were in the Championship without the hindsight of some on here wanting to be proved right.
When he left? He'd just got us back up. Phelans first game was the Leicester win. He wanted a budget that would give us a chance of staying up. As it was we couldn't even fill the bench first game back.
No it isn't. I ain't got a clue who he is and he might spend a lot of time going back and forth but I don't see anger
No obviously not. This is getting like a Fawlty Towers sketch. I'm not going to explain it all again in case kalman picks me up on a grammar and gives me 100 lines. But the point again was, Bruce spent £80m and we were relegated to the Championship then he asked for more in the Championship....
I googled Clucas and the fee/add-ons Swansea paid for him. Haven't paid hardly any attention to him since he left us but apparently he's scored for Stoke against Swansea a few times and proper mugged the Swansea fans off with his Adebayor-style celebrations.
Yes I know, but no-one knew that at the time did they ? The club were deep in debt after the relegation from the PL. Do you remember Obiadah posting the accounts earlier ? Yet Bruce came back asking for more money to spend. No-one knew if he would be successful or not and add to that Bruce has to be begged to stay with us after the relegation. If you want to know more pm me because I'm not putting it up on here to be ridiculed by posters making stuff up with the benefit of hindsight.
They knew at the time he left they were in the PL, had 120m guaranteed income and had a first team squad of about 9 players.
Look I'm not a mind reader and I don't think you are either. No-one knew what state our finance's were after that relegation, except the owners who were signing the cheques. You are also forgetting that the owners thought the club has been sold that summer.
I think he was full of **** saying how much he liked the area but couldn't wait to get away. Another bullshitter
I thought the Yongges bid came later. The Grieve debacle had just happened where they shifted the goalposts by asking 6m for the SMC. Not sure they actually thought the club was sold at any point, just that they had stated an intent to sell.
I'm not sure that anybody is in the process of buying now ! Pretty certain the Allams will be here next Oct
I think we'd have heard if the Turkish bid had failed from one source or another, unless you know something no one else does.
Difference being now, following the loss of parachute payments we're no longer a cash cow. They know we need investment or it'll be back to league 1 and at that level the club is unsustainable.
