This is the only thing that makes sense to me too. Needs make the 2nd choices feel like they are not second choices if Keane falls through. He probably did a good job of that, at the expense of deflating everyone and even looking like an idiot given the Keane interview on Sky the day before. Maybe there are still contract issues - and I think Keane used the sky panel to send a message to the club on that, but he clearly thinks that any issues are resolvable, else he wouldn't have been smiling like a kid on Christmas eve who's just sneaked a glimpse of the train set he's getting tomorrow.
Clubs comms seem to have shut up shop. Not one tweet since Saturday tea time. Normally the first place they put stuff out. Not even a mention of tomorrows game. Calm before the storm ?
It's worryingly calm like. Absolutely nothing from them is weird. Although Dodds has spoke to Nick Barnes on BBC Newcastle about the game tomorrow and talks about why Defoe didn't get much game time. So it's very much sounding like he'll still be in charge for Cheltenham.
Really weird. They are normally very active. Being off air (so to speak) for so long is almost like a news blackout. Think the club got a shock on all fronts on Saturday.
It looks like the club know to shut up shop at the minute on the social media front. The natives are restless and they have brough it on themselves to be honest. Its been a clamity on the marketing front and they let things spiral. The Speakman interview on Saturday was a horrendous idea. I only hope it is Keane and they announce it soon. Anything other and they will have a revolt on their hands and they have to look at themselves. KLD liking instagram posts etc needs to stop. Fnas read everything into anything and they have had a bad week on that front.
Ffs mate. Imagine getting a glimpse of this shower of ****e and knowing that’s all you had to wake up to on Christmas Day
The 'Club' were not the only ones shocked on Saturday, count pretty much all fans as well, even from the sight of the team sheet, never mind what happened next. I would love to see Keane back but don't think the club should be shafted in the process.
Surely cannot be wages....that could have been discussed roughly at beginning of any process to save wasting a week
Don’t believe that for a minute, no way Keane would be still talking to us if we couldnt offer him a decent wage.
There's going to be carnage if the next tweet from the club isn't announcing a new manager, seeing as they've not tweeted for almost 2 days. You can tell across the message boards and twitter itself that tension is getting high and people are getting really frustrated. Maybe that's why they're not tweeting anything.
Again, I have to agree. If there IS a delay (and i'm not sure there is, just crossing the i's and dotting the t's ) then maybe Keane wants to bring a couple of names in with him
