New MODS

That's very true there sir. Quite frankly I am in a state of bewilderment reading through all of this. My initial thought was that I didn't expect anyone to stand down or request it either. All I have ever done is offer thoughts and try to engage in a reasonable conversation. Arguing is not the correct thing to do as has been proved on this forum recently.
Also, I am shocked by the support on this thread, I always considered myself to be a periphery figure and of little consequence here. I didn't realise that my being polite had caught people's eyes and I thank you gentleman for that.
All this appears to be irrelevant anyway, as the lady from Peterboro doesn't seem all that keen. I would have been more than happy to help out Chico and try to educate you charlatans on etiquette and good manners too.
Talking of good manners, I would like to thank Taff for your kind words, I am sure you know what I am referring to good sir.

I do hope you can find some decent people (person?) to mod your board. I do like coming on here now and again but lately it has been a mess. No idea if new mods will fix that or not because I don't really know why it's such a mess but good luck to whoever takes the job

 

Thanks for the suggestions lads so if anyone has thought it over can they please nominate themselves either on this thread or in a PM, as I'll carry on until a couple step forward. There's a few that I think would do a great job so I might also PM some of you throughout the day if no names are put forward by themselves.

Just logged on and sad to read of Valley & Never's resignation but a heartfelt thanks for all your efforts against considerable odds. Seems like Dexter is the obvious choice!

Think long and hard before taking up the poisoned chalice role of being a Mod on here,Dexter.
There are too many who will use you as target practice,and it's extremely doubtful that the deeply ingrained ++++ behaviour of some will ever change.
The high turnover of Mods on Swansea City Forums,past and present,would tend to confirm this.

 

If they all can conduct themselves like yourself then there would not be any problems. They need educating thats's all

 

It seems to me that Dexter has got the majority vote, so why not give him the opportunity

 

Vetch, I know we've had words in the past but seeing as we're looking for two mods why not you? I reckon you'd do a decent job.

 

Whoever takes the job would be bonkers as there are too many strong personalities to manage I'm afraid. It would have to be someone unaffiliated with the various groups here but more importantly I think the only way to mod this board is in the style of brb.

1: Ruthlessly apply the rules and don't give a **** who you upset. The rules are not complicated and it shouldn't be hard to abide by them, though people do seem to have trouble with the concept here.

2: Don't turn into the Cardiff board where reasons to ban have been plucked out of thin air. They also don't ban their own - or at least very rarely. Not good.

3: Don't ban people who abide by the rules but are not liked.

I think that mods who have tried to please everyone and do the right thing have made rods for their own backs. As brb once said, it's not a ****ing democracy (though he's probably forgotten that lol). Apply the rules fairly, just take a decision and stick by it. If anyone other than the banned person asks you to justify it tell them to get stuffed - you shouldn't have to.

This isn't a criticism of our departing mods who have been decent guys but the infighting here has got out of hand because posters simply break the rules with impunity. I had to demand a ban for one poster recently when he should have been banned outright for repeated breaches without warning. Repeated warnings allow the transgressors to keep going and then pull back before being banned. Start instant bans for breaches and this crap will soon stop.
