There is/was a boozer called The Zetland opposite Middlesbrough station.

Barring the odd occasion we'd be taking 500 maximum up there so we were not exactly Grade A for the smoggies so having a social beer was easy, unlike the 80's at Ayresome<yikes>.

Consequently The Zetland was often used before and after the game, the lager was VERY cheap but it had head on it taller than me!

Talking about circuses. There are two and a half Clowns on Not606. I think it is vital we pick up points against the lower clubs like Portsmouth and Oxford.

And that's the moderator of this forum. <doh>

Presumably the clowns are you Elfs, me, and Smudger.
Three members who have been posting here for years, and have shown far more commitment to this community than Dick ever has, on his occasional flying visits.

In my opinion he is not fit to be caretaker of this community, slagging it off in this manner on a cult bullying forum like ITTV.

Dr Brown's, now closed I think, was our pub of choice in Smoggyland. Went on minibus there once, and when we got on the car park an obese Keystone copper came trotting up demanding to know where the beer was. He went away disappointed as we'd supped it and got rid. :emoticon-0138-think

One of them is certainly me as there are 2.5, unless you two have shrunk in the wash<laugh>

From Kings Cross, it was either changing at York or Northallerton if you were to approach Middlesbrough from the south. If you approached from the north, we'd be changing at Darlington and doing a Usain Bolt into Hogans.

Hogans was an eperience but absolutely heaven if you did spit and sawdust. At times you were getting a pint for 50p

Indeed it does.
November has been a turbulent month. A good thing it's nearly over. Some stability would be most welcome.

I’m very content with the way @Dick Plumb1 is moderating this forum.

We have some excellent posters on here, and a handful of duds.

Let’s remind everyone of our excellent ones.

@Ponders Revisited
@PuttersCAFC
@The Pub Landlord
@Squareball
@Typical part 2
@CarrianCarcuss
@TwoWrights
@FormerlyOzAddick
@Watameire
Even Lardi has his moments when he focuses on football.

With such a strong first team of posters, we can more than handle the odd scrubber.

Tent pole raiseth i must confess !

Very disappointing news.

I feel the worst three posters on here have forced you out Dick.

Three posters who have made thousands of contributions to this community over several years, while you and the new moderator were both away.
Two of the three posters who helped you back onto this forum by asking brb to sort out your password problem.
Three posters who welcomed you and Dick back.
So you could launch a campaign of abuse and bullying against its moderator that became intolerable.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

During the Summer Royston (not on the forum at the time) used Elfs as a messenger, to deliver several speeches critical of me.
Royston claimed that he could bring several new members with him to Not606 Charlton, and turn it into a much busier and livelier place - if I would step down as moderator and let him take lover the role.
Here's a link to the thread;

https://not606.com/threads/kojak-offers-to-replace-lardi.418733/

Pay particular attention if you will to my first reply (the 4th post in the thread).
Later, when it was clear that Royston was not going to let up, I offered to not post anything for 30 days if he would re-join this forum (rather than snipe at me from afar), so he could bring those new members with him and transform the place like he said he could. And if he was as good as his word, after the 30 days were up I would ask brb to appoint him as moderator and then leave the forum myself.
My offer was ignored.

Despite the warnings contained in that thread of Elfs' relayed messages, I was happy when Royston decided to re-join the forum a couple of months later, and along with Elfs (who was still relaying messages) I asked brb to help Royston back onboard, as he was having a password issue.

Royston is an entertaining poster, who adds much interest and variety to the threads he creates or contributes to. He is undoubtedly 'box office'. I was hoping he could liven things up here without resuming his antipathy towards me. However, I was mistaken.
Just for the record, here is a link to the thread he created to attack me and pressure me to step down as moderator, once he had returned to posting here;

Very kind of you to say but I don't think I contribute enough to get a mention.

Royston is using your name and the others on his list to divide the forum.
Only those that he approves of are worthy of being members here, is what he is implying.
Pretty entitled of him, considering he has been back for about six weeks.

Just checked the ITTV thread and it seems that Dick has not only quit as moderator, he has left the group never to return.

Royston has been silent for a few days, i hope he has not done the same.

I keep calling for a bit of live-and-let-live but I feel like a voice in the wilderness.

I am not going to try and get behind the motive, mine was a straight response to a name check.

I keep myself peripheral so I can't get involved in anything.

For 'never to return' read another six months or so.
Dick swore once that he would never return to ITTV, after Reams began intimidating him by posting personal information about him.
If somebody had done the same to me, I would really never have gone back.
Being falsely denounced as an Anti-Semite is enough to ensure I will never go back to ITTV, but that injustice is mild compared to the abuse Dick has taken from that forum's administrator in the past.
Still, it's his choice.

I was willing to live and let live - until Royston began threatening to 'have me removed' by his high-up buddies on Not606.
I did not want to fight him. But he came here throwing his supposed influence around, and I made the mistake of biting on one of his dog-whistle posts.
Well I've learned that lesson the hard way (not for the first time).
I believe we will see both Royston and Dick posting again at some point, be it soon or next year sometime.
Unlike ITTV, All Charlton supporters will always be welcome here. That will never change.

That's one of the strengths of this forum community.
All football fans posting in good faith should always be welcome to drop by.
Even TC and Ringo - we've missed them...
