Oh ****ing hell this is pathetic mate you need to stop
I picked up on your point aboutkompanys style of play and Burnley and you know I did I never mentioned anything at all about Bayern
You used their style of play to beat kompany with and are wrong
Completely wrong and yet you still keep digging

Do you think Kompany is a good appointment for Bayern?

I’m not really following this argument but are you saying Kompany’s Burnley played the best football that year in the Championship and Syd is saying they didn’t but were the ‘best team’?

No idea but some one does

do you want to admit Burnley we’re head and shoulders the vest team on the league and only list three games

Yes they only lost three games, that's factual. They spent a ton of money to do it. You think their style was brilliant, I thought other teams were as good if not better. It's a game of opinions. Saying they had the best style because they were top is silly.

No, I said they spent a ton of money to win the league last year and Chazz is saying they played the best because they won the league. All I said from the start is he's a rubbish appointment for Bayern and he was **** in the PL. Someone made the counter point that he turned Burnley around in the Championship and I said they only managed that because of how much they spent.

Just not quite sure what Chazz is getting so wound up about.

He had better players due to spending more money than other teams but they still played the best football in the league that year, before Kompany came in the football they played was nothing at all like how they played the year they won the league and that was due to him changing the style, wasn't easy on the eye at all before him.

If he goes to Bayern he will have more money than others in the league and better players than most in the league so he'll probably do well using his style.

Guess we'll see. Nuno went to Spurs and didn't do particularly well, I don't think you can just expect managers to walk into big jobs and do well. Could easily see him given the arse by September. Think they were in a bit of a panic because everyone kept turning them down. Kompany was exposed in the PL despite spending a ton again in the PL. Luton outplayed them and Luton spent nothing.

They spent £36,850,000 on transfer fees in the 2022/23 season according to Transfermarkt and made about £65,220,000 from selling players. Their most expensive players that season in terms of transfer fees were Foster and Al-Dakhil in January. In the summer, they made a few transfers in the £3-4 million range like Zaroury, Benson etc. They spent prudently that season. It was this season they spent loads on underwhelming players.

And they did play the best and most attractive football in the 2022/23 season, by far.

37m is a lot to spend in the Championship regardless of how much they made from sales. Leicester sold Barnes and Maddison for over 100m but they still spent a ton relatively speaking for the league because those sales allowed them to hold onto other players.

What were they supposed to do, bank the money for interest and play reserves? They lost loads of players when they went down due to expiring contracts and selling their best players like McNeil, Cornet, Pope and Nat Collins for 8-figure sums. Kompany had to pretty much build that squad from scratch. He had to sign all new centre-halves, wingers etc.

Considering he managed to sign players like Zaroury, Benson, Vitinho, Cullen, Murić for around £1-4 million each is really good business. We bought Sinik and Allahyar for similar fees ffs.

Which is fine, not saying they can't sign players, just saying they spent a lot of money that summer to change the style and shape of the squad. It's not as impressive as it looks on the surface. It's not like he walked into the building and had Dyche's squad playing like Barcelona, it's a different squad.

It's still a quick turnaround and good on him, but this season showed that with even more money to spend he couldn't replicate the same performance levels, so I'm skeptical that he does it at Bayern.

I agree he’s not good enough for Bayern but I think you’re playing down his first season at Burnley.

Perhaps the second season is colouring my perception, you're right, but I don't think doing well for a season in the Championship even if he did have them playing some amazing style is justification enough to get the Bayern job. Carrick for instance did a better job (I thought) at Boro with a lot less resources coming in mid-way through the season.
