To be fair, CI did suggest it was between Bruce and Mad Mick while others were throwing names like Clark, Rosler, Megson, Davies, Brown and Blackwell around
I'd be pretty pleased with Bruce, but will be especially happy that we can finally move on to be honest, and there are hardly a massive amount of top quality names around. Seems a bit strange they'd release players the day before a new manager comes in though. Who signed McShane for Sunderland, was that Bruce or before his time?
id be quite happy with Bruce , and i also see it as a positive if he was to leave in the future for a premier club , at least it would mean his is doing the biz at city
Bruce would be a major coup for us, my concern is Lambert leaving Norwich. Bruce has a connection there and it makes it easier for him to walk out on us. Norwich are a tempting club to go to, good fan base etc.
Only because if they accept it they lose any right to compensation. I don't see Norwich at the moment as a better option for Bruce than we are. I know they're PL and we're Championship and he's got the personal connection, but at the moment he needs to rebuild his position in the game a bit after being sacked by Sunderland if he wants to ever get a bigger job. Norwich will have a bigger budget than us, but compared to the job in hand it will be a lot smaller. He'd also be taking over from a manager who's turned a relegated club around and achieved back to back promotions followed by a comfortable season. It's a much tougher job because they'll want to see an improvement on the very good job that's been done, and a poor 6 months for them will probably end his hopes of ever managing a top half side again. With us he'd be able to make a slower start, get in the playoffs this season and only be under pressure to be promoted by the end of next season. Then it's a gradual building process for us in the PL which lets him build himself back up all the time. Assuming he doesn't just go for the wages, I think I'd actually be more worried about losing him to someone Blackburn if Keen goes than to Norwich, you just don't know what their owners are going to do next. They could carry on as they have been, or they could just as easily decide to throw £15M at getting back to the PL this season as a final roll of the dice before walking away if it doesn't work.
Not really, we already did a deal to bring him in on loan in January, it was only injuries at Sunderland that stopped him coming.
In the gossip column it says he wants to bring in Colin Hendry to help with the coaching and get the fans onside. Genius!
The main reason for Lambert's dissatisfaction with Norwich was the lack of funds being made available for strengthening the squad.
Well the Yorkshire Post don't think it's Bruce. They say he's never been considered. Quote: The Yorkshire Post understands, however, that Bruce was never under consideration, while both Clark and Megson have not been contacted by the Hull board despite, at various stages, having led the betting market to replace Nick Barmby. Yeah - I spotted that. A bit ago, Carlisle said they'd had no approach, but I haven't seen it denied recently.
It looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer, whoever it is... Chris Dawkes ‏@chrisdawkesITV Some reports suggesting Steve Bruce will be the next #hcafc manager - the club don't expect a decision will be made today
