This is from the link above Hull will make a new bid to talk Steve Bruce out of managerial limbo - and into their hot seat. Tigers have been stalking Bruce for a fortnight, but the experienced boss was holding back in the hope of a return to Wigan, where he has already had two spells in charge in 2001 and 2007-2009. However, Roberto Martinez's decision to stay with the Latics has put the kibosh on that, and now Hull want to persuade Bruce - out of work since being sacked by Sunderland before Christmas - to join them as Nick Barmby's replacement. The Championship side want a boss who can put them in the promotion race, but the newcomer's budget will not be huge - and he may have to work with the existing staff. Hull sacked Barmby but his backroom team are all under contract and - with money tight - they may have to stay on and be part of the next regime. Well if it is him we are clearly his "second best". How much of this is them just guessing. I will be checking twitter a lot tomorrow I think.
it wont be true cos ive just lumped the £120 i had in my skybet account on it before it dropped.. guaranteed jinx!
So, basically, over the course of a month, we have acquired just two facts: 1) The new manager is absolutely 100% certain to be Steve Bruce. 2) The new manager is absolutely 100% certain not to be Steve Bruce.
I love mysteries. We were told earlier that the talks with new manager were at an advanced stage but this article implies we are going to get in contact with him again.
Has Mr White just read the HDM today? I'm not looking again, but I could have sworn there was an article on their website today saying that it was close and could be by the weekend. Even if there wasn't, there was one last week with them saying they hoped to appoint someone by the end of this week, so for White to say we might make an appointment tomorrow seems a bit Septic Peg.
I don't know anything about him, but it seems he's following me on Twitter, so he can't be a complete idiot.
What odds did you get? I tell you one thing though - regardless of everyone's stance on the Allams and Barmby, they have to be given credit for keeping this appointment under wraps - I've never known a managerial search be done so quietly. If it is Bruce, the Humberside staff have egg on their faces - the three main - Burnsy, Matt Dean and Mike White have all been tweeting that it was definitely off.
still 5/6 which does make me doubht it being a nailed on cert, i just got carried away by that oddschanger confidently stating twice within ten mins its 100%
Quite a few people who either claim to know stuff or have contacts have been kept out of this and its not just those 3 prats you mentioned, its all journos. Impressive stuff indeed.
I have a suspicion that Buckingham has been fed information from the Allam's recently, he seems to have far more info than normal. If it does turn out to be Bruce, then I think he's been played a little.
You're pleased it's Bruce? We were horrified when his name was mentioned in relation to our job. Think you could have got better in as it wouldn't take much work to push your squad to promotion standard.
But who? Swansea will go for a continental manager to keep going the way Martinez and Rodgers have taken them. Villa want Lambert and are about to get him from Norwich since hes even handed in his resignation to try to make it happen. Wigan the job isn't there because Martinez isn't going anywhere now they've failed to do a deal by today. Fulham are going for foreign managers. Norwich might want him, but are they going to give him the kind of budget he'd want at a lower end PL club when he's trying to follow in Lambert's footsteps? It's not like if he came to us and got us promoted he'd be following on from much, survival would be the aim where as at Norwich it would be comfortable survival and an improvement on last year.
