Yeah I know if you forget what he done at Lincoln he is a good manager, but he failed at a non league club and that can ruin a manager.

Hoadie, I really think that it will make him a stronger manager. I bet he learnt more in that year at Lincoln than during the good times at Southend.

Do you have inside info on that then gfc1234, or is that just a gut feeling, because Scally seems to have given every indication that it won't be until the week after?

Vinney, Its just a gut feeling... Remember when Scally announced Neale Cooper as manager on 2005 cup final day? Well, how about Scally announcing Steve Tilson as manager just before the England/Germany semi final!!

If this does happen I hope he brings more success than Neale did.

Lets not get too carried away with the Tilson angle, Scally has admitted he has carried out a number of second interviews and Tilson is just one of them. Just because it has been leaked to the press there is no gurantee that he will get offered the role.

Yes it may be taking some time, more than many would wish but we have to have faith in Scally decision, and I would hope whoever it is that fans given him a chance to prove himself (or herself) rather than jumping on the first error he (or she) makes and using is an excuse to crucify them.

I agree with that BSG. Whilst speculating who will be appointed we can look at their past mistakes and weaknesses but whoever eventually comes in deserves a completely clean slate and full backing from the fans. It's far less likely that the team will perform well if the crowd are on their back from the off.

With our ever blossoming 'Continental Connections' courtesy of our new Director of Fussball 'Der Kleine Hess', could it be
the no show of the heir non apparent manager, is because they have been tied up in the Euros in some capacity?
Creative suggestions required please, while we await Le Grand Annonce!

gfcoooo i'd watch those gut feelings....you'll end up sitting in the toilet for the next two weeks <laugh>

Do I detect that some of the intrigue has disappeared from the speculation about the new manager ? Seems that some of you are looking beyond the appointment, and to how it may affect the future of the club's league position.
I am pragmatic about what we can achieve. I am sure that we all realise that we can only hope for small improvements at any one time. I also feel that the appointment of the manager is only a part of the change that is needed to start making improvements. I believe that the lack of a decent No.2 / and probably the wrong fitness regime was as much to blame last season for 'falling short'. Hess needed help / guidance to make changes (sooner) when things were going wrong. The squad -with one or two exceptions were good enough to have got those extra 2 points (and more.)
In the last two days Scally has said that he feels the squad doesn't need much improvement & has more than hinted that there won't be much funds for new players. Perhaps the new management team will find the right tactics to get the best out of the available players ( plus one or two new players ) - I hope that will be good enough to get us promoted.

Just read a tweet posted 10 minutes ago by KENTSPORTSNEWS, that the McCammon case is in court Tuesday, so this may have a knock affect to any proceedings in regards to appointments next week. Also it was reported via another media source that Lee Clark was due a second meeting at Birmingham today - so I assume we can expect some sort of an announcement soon in the football world on that front.

Edit: if you follow my twitter profile on my signature below, you will see the KENTSPORTSNEWS tweet that I have retweeted.

I am sure the speculation will come to end soon in regards to Clark, one way or another. However, personally without going into detail, apart from any package that may look attractive would I take the job at Birmingham. Not a chance. Sometimes the easier option is the more appealing if the wage structure at least meets your needs. Although a smaller club may well expose any weaknesses in your ability.

So, he may have been interviewed! Doesnt mean anything! Just read he has applied for the Hearts job too and also has an offer to be manager of Namibia!
