There is still Hope (pun intended), therefore maybe for that reason PS is waiting until after the Olympics. <whistle>

Ok, ok, I'm just saying...

I knew it was a bad idea even suggesting it <laugh>

There does not appear to be any mention of Constantine in that article, with it just listing these names in a poll...

Who do you want the new manager to be?

Steve Tilson - no
Martin Allen - no
Lee Clark - don't care but with out giving reasons why, I would steer well clear of Birmingham though.
Keith Millen - no
Peter Taylor - yes
Paul Ince - erm

well atleast we dont have to rush on to all the sites to see if theres been an announcement now for a while!! gotta be clark for me given robsons out!!

The bookies seem pretty sure on Allen being appointed. I can´t see that one myself given the role that Hessenthaler has been assigned. This squad needs a good coach and Ince could be a good bet for success. Definite "no`s" for Tilson, Miller and Taylor!

i did say brb, this friday at the earliest, though the fact scally is taking his time is a good call rather than a rush job to please the fans.

though the negative side is player purchases will be thin on the ground by the time we have someone and some managers may get restless...like mark robson may have !!!

What many people on other forums seems to forget is that June is a bit of a quiet month for football clubs. Everyone is on holiday and it really doesn't matter if we don't appoint a manager until later this month because there is not a lot the new manager can get done at the present anyway. A lot of supporters seem frustrated that we haven't appointed but I think that's down to excitement as opposed to what the club needs. It's about time we appointed someone who is going to move the club forward and get the crowds back to Priestfield, I think we can take a lot of positives from what Scally has said and to be honest, the shortlist is a pretty good one. Everyones expectations have soared since Lee Clark has been named. The managers apparently in for a second interview are all decent managers and a lot more experienced and successful than the recent lot we have had.

hear hear batchinator, this club now needs to move forward, so if time is needed...so be it !

one thing i would say is most comments on the forums about who has been seen at the club, who has withdrawn/put there name in the hat etc....is total rubbish and we will just have to wait and see at the press conference when the club are good and ready !

Waiting to get the right man is all well and god but the new manager needs time to change things around, so the longer the it takes to appoint the manager the less likely the chances of promotion become. No problem there as long as the fans allow the new man time.

BSG - to a degree I concur. I don't think anyone can accuse Scally of rushing things, and whilst I am patient to allow for the best appointment available - I am worried that he needs another two weeks to sort out the short list.
In view of Scally's comments about the merits of the candidates, I would have expected an announcement by Friday - in time for the release of the new league fixtures - any time after that will be eating into a more critically important period for the new man ( or Powell ) to get into the transfer market - Although I repeat that, the appointment of a new manager should not be preventing Hess from his job in this area )

I'm not sure whether this should be on the silly season thread, but.... I'm pretty sure we were meant to be pretty close to an appointment a week(ish) ago and now we're meant to be waiting until at least 'the last week in june'. It seems all that's happened in this time is that Lee Clark has been heavily linked with the Birmingham job )oh and Robson's gone to Barnet). Maybe this means Scally's delaying to see whether Birmingham offer him the job? Maybe we'll get our appointment the same day as Birmingham make theirs (if they don't pick Clark)

Pretty sure i'm talking utter sh*te, but I'm bored, and I want a new manager in NOW!

There could well be some truth in this. IF Clark had put his name for our job before the Birmingham interest materialised, then an alternate appointment could leave him happy to fall back to his "second choice". I don`t think he will drop down though. Major coup if Scally pulls this one off!
