He believes in me and says I’m an important part of his plans and I never got that from the last gaffer
Tongue in cheek Syd. I like the sound of Rueben’s style but never thought we saw it at all. Key to his style was overlapping full backs, ball playing centre backs and a mobile all-rounder CF.
I agree HT2, we've got it wrong more times than we've got it right and 'value' for money. We've brought some bang average players in over the last 2-3 years, even though we've paid decent fees. That said unless we sort out our inability to score goals everything else will be compromised in terms of signings.
https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...ws/acun-ilicali-makes-feelings-clear-10204029 Its not Beale by the sounds of it. Acun says its someone we've never heard of.. im guessing Reira..
Riera sounds like a decent option for me, especially compared to the names that have been closely linked.
I like the sound of his flexibility in playing style/tactics, depending on opponents etc. Sounds promising but we’ve been here before. Hopefully, they get it right this time and provide him with a decent squad (once all the ins and outs are sorted).
Just an observation. Acun would have watched Reira's team all season in the Slovenian league, especially in their games against Maribor.. Reira's team Celje have scored the most goals by far but conceded a fair few too... I bet this is why Acun wants him.
Worked under Terim too… sigh. Wonder if we’d spend our cash better with a manager who has the contacts and knows the league.
Albert Riera's managerial style is known for its flexible, positional-based approach and emphasis on adapting to the opponent. He prioritizes possession, control, and creating superiorities on the pitch through strategic rotations and overloads. He also emphasizes efficient counterattacking and intelligent off-the-ball movement. Here's a more detailed breakdown: Positional Play: Riera's teams are known for their heavy commitment to positional play principles, focusing on creating and exploiting superiorities across the pitch. Flexibility and Adaptation: He believes in adapting tactics based on the opponent, avoiding a rigid approach and maintaining a flexible and unpredictable style. Possession and Control: Riera aims for his teams to dominate possession, keep the ball, and be in control of the match, similar to the style of Pep Guardiola. Efficient Counterattacking: He incorporates efficient counterattacking strategies, ensuring quick transitions and penetrating the opposition's defense through half-spaces. Intelligent Movement: Riera's teams demonstrate intelligent off-the-ball movement, creating space and opportunities for scoring chances. Emphasis on Goals: While emphasizing possession and control, Riera has also been successful in increasing the goal-scoring output of his teams, as seen during his time with Bordeaux.
Bit like Joao Pedros', there's loads of 'em, just hope Acun knows this... Albert Riera (footballer, born 1983) - Wikipedia Albert Riera - Wikipedia
