Maybe – but it all depends on how football-literate Acun is. As far as I can recall, Beale’s only real achievement on the pitch was a brief unbeaten run with QPR (who had Eze) – yet he still landed an interview. It must be his connections he's selling, no doubt along with a supposed formula for success that everyone else has somehow misunderstood. (Didn’t Acun once say that in all his personal successes, he failed multiple times first?) Well, Beale’s certainly failed multiple times. PowerPoint slides? Just adds some text and lets the 'Designer' AI tool do the rest I'd reckon.
It does feel that these names are being leaked to test the water with the fans. Which if true, further demonstrates how out of touch and out of control things are.
Not a chance. I think he will hold out for a job in the premier league or one of the power shoot teams.
Jan Molby impressed Adam Pearson when interviewed. He turned up with an armful of dossiers and Pearson was won over. What a mistake that was. Also Rosinior was the stand out applicant when he was interviewed for the City job. I heard years ago that former City player Stuart Pearson, ex England, Man Utd, West Ham and at the time West Brom coach, also applied for the manager's job at City and didn't even get an interview because no-one at the club at the time knew who he was. I'd say impressing the owner if the first five minutes you sit down with him goes a long way, he either likes you or he doesn't. I once applied for a job, only my second real interview since leaving school and I was in my 40's. It was held at a hotel on the outskirts of Hull very early one morning. I was first one to be interviewed. So I turned up wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase with my particulars in it ( my sandwiches). Reception showed me to the interview room and told me where to sit, which was behind a desk which I thought was odd. An internal door opened after a few minutes and a young fella in a sweat shirt and jeans walked in. So I asked if I could help him? He said 'why are you sat behind my desk'? He was the interviewer. I didn't get the job. I also wrote to City once suggesting they go for Jacky Charlton as manager, this was before he went to Boro and got them promoted to the 1st Division before Christmas! I got a reply saying 'thank you for your application but the post has now been filled. Conclusion? First impressions go a long way.
Jan Molby. One of the most important appointments in our clubs history tbf. !! Had he not been appointed.... (I know you know TT).
I hope you flipped that interview on its head and interrogated him why that company would be a good fit for you
Someone said it as a joke but I wouldn’t be surprised if Acun hires someone based purely on the interview and doesn’t research their record or their style of play at the clubs they’ve coached at previously. It’s the only explanation for him hiring Rosenior and Sellés and being disappointed at the style of football. It’s just style over substance and he’s easily impressed by first impressions. Reminds me of this scene from The Simpsons movie:
