Muslic only had 21 games so he had his work cut out and it’s not a fair comparison at all. Had they both taken over their respective clubs at the same time I suspect we would be planning for a season in League 1 right now.
Maybe, I can see why people would say that. But I didn't see much in the way of kicking on when he got the players he asked for and had started to pick up points. It still felt even right up to the last home game like people were going to come and give us a good ****ing. No steel added to the side, no extra energy. I think I said the other day, he seems a very capable coach and I am sure he will have a good career out of football but I'm not sure if such an expectant crowd and owner are what he was capable of handling at this stage. You probably saw yourself how many turned on him on here and social media with his constant changing of the team and his weird subs. Thankfully it's not my job to decide if he was the right man or not. I'm just offering you my opinion in case you're bored enough to care about it.
Opinions are fascinating aren't they, I much preferred watching Selles' team over Walter. With Walter, I just got more and more angry at the basic errors the team displayed - and the attacking football really was no better than under Selles despite him being a 'maverick'. For me at least with Selles we looked like an actual team, even if we were fairly toothless in attack. I don't think Walter would have drew 3-3 with Leeds for example.
To be fair Drew I think even Pep would struggle to make Bedia and Burstow look like an attacking force.
It looks like Mowbray has had some backing at the bookies, hopefully from people in the know. If he became the manager, then you might just about be able to forgive the clusterfuck that’s been unnecessarily created three times now. A decent man, with considerable ability. The thing is, I don’t think he would be prepared to put up with some of the nonsense that would be thrown at him.
Something niggling me about the Plymouth coach. Why let the cameras in for that infamous YouTube video if his priority was to gain the players trust? It’s not like Amazon are doing a fly on the wall documentary about Plymouth. Surely you would leave the cameras out to create a safe space for the players to ask questions. His speech comes across as rehearsed. Not sure where I’m going with this but I’d much rather have a coach who excels in football tactics and developing players over someone who excels in media and self promotion.
Ofcourse its rehearsed And saying a speech like its a hollywood movie doesnt mean youre a good coach or a bad one Anyone can do that
The Walter sell ? He has developed a unique brand of attacking football - first as a coach of Bayern Munichs reserve team and then narrowly missing out on promotion with Hamburg. Result. No attacking football, calamitous defending, player mutiny. The Selles sell? Turning around a club with limited funds, a transfer ban, successfully developing and promotion u21 players to guide the club to be in a playoff position. Result? Tightened up defence, won a couple of high profile away games but then form fell off a cliff for the last 8 games. The Muslic sell? Won a string of games unexpectedly in a team that ultimately got relegated and had a mini cup run. Sounds like another long shot punt to me.
