Funny how that was all over social media straight after the final whistle at Portsmouth. And yet now it's radio silence on the new manager and there's been no leaks at all.
Yes. It was an utterly piss-poor way to treat a contracted employee but he’s got form for it. Took the piss out of Allsop for a few laughs at the Q&A.
To be fair it should be radio silence and no leaks,it's a positive in the midst of a lot of negatives.
Not letting me embed but - JAKIROVIĆ TO ENGLAND? After a stunning rescue mission with Kayserispor, SergejJakirović is now a top candidate to take over Championship side Hull City, owned by Turkish businessman Acun Ilicali. Ilicali is a big fan of Jakirović. [24sata] #Jakirović#Hull#Croatia
Given the way the club has been run via the preferences and whims of the owner, I’d say this scenario seems very plausible. If true, it would be another own goal without even getting into the question of the man’s managerial suitability. The unusual level of secrecy around names being leaked has created a vacuum, which fans on forums and social media have filled with unrealistic expectations. Much more illustrious names have been touted as genuine options. If the “new Jak” is appointed, there’s going to be a lot of frustration and criticism aimed at the owner before the season even begins.
Extensive playing career. Tick Currently in a job. Tick Managing in Turkey. Bonus for Acun Managed at Maribor. Albeit before Acun This is a peak Acun appointment if true
Exactly how far in advance should the new manager have been arranged? I'm curious. I fully agree it needs sorting with enough time for the new guy to organise 'distractions' such as schools and living arrangements etc before the job begins when the players return, but in the same breath - with how many games to go last season should the decision have been made? I mean, we didn't even know which league we were going to be in until the season finished. If we'd have played the last few games like we did v Sheff Utd away then would they have lined someone new up for nothing?
For someone who is supposed to be highly media literate, the Club struggles to control the narrative in many situations.
He matches the profile that we have for what the manager's background is. Also, his side drew 3-3 at Fenerbache in April and Acun 100% would have wanted him based on that
International news Sergej Jakirović linked with Hull City move after Kayserispor success 28. May 2025 please log in to view this image Sergej Jakirović (foto: Official TW/IG/FB account) The former Dinamo Zagreb and Zrinjski coach is reportedly wanted by Hull City as they plan a Championship rebuild under Turkish ownership. Sergej Jakirović is being linked with a sensational move to England’s Championship, with Hull City reportedly pushing hard to appoint him as their new head coach. Jakirović, 47, impressed with his recent work at Kayserispor, where he took over in January and steered the club away from relegation in Turkey’s top flight. Under his guidance, the team recorded eight wins and five draws in 16 matches, with an impressive average of 1.81 points per game. According to Croatian media, Hull City’s owner, Turkish businessman Acun Ilicali, is determined to bring the former Zrinjski Mostar, Rijeka, and Dinamo Zagreb boss to the MKM Stadium. Ilicali is reportedly unhappy with current coach Ruben Selles and is ready to meet Jakirović’s demands to secure his signature. Hull narrowly avoided relegation this season and see Jakirović as the man to revitalise their project and push for promotion. The English second division would mark a significant step forward for Jakirović, who started his coaching career at NK Sesvete in 2017. After successful spells at Gorica and Zrinjski, he had a brief stint at NK Maribor before building a title-winning side at Dinamo Zagreb. Although he left the club following a defeat to Bayern, his managerial credentials remain highly regarded. His tenure at Zrinjski, Rijeka, and Dinamo all featured over two points per game on average – a statistic that underscores his coaching quality. Should Jakirović accept Hull’s offer, he will be reunited with Croatian goalkeeper Ivor Pandur, who played 44 matches for the Tigers this season. While Kayserispor are keen to keep him, the allure of English football may prove too strong to resist.
In true City fashion the recruitment drive will take place when next season starts, then weeks later the current caretaker coach will be appointed. Oh sorry, that's paraphrasing a Bristol City fan talking about their managerial situation. Only us, eh? The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
He has managed 8 clubs since 2017 so he wont mind being fired by Acun after six months he is used to it. On the plus side he has a very good win record with a win record of 60%
He really does treat us like it’s a video game. However, in real life, you can’t just go back to an earlier save when you **** up.
This is almost as much fun as Trainspotting. There's anothe manager I have not heard of before that I can now mark down as being a candidate for the next City manager in my "Manager Book".
