I was thinking (yes it did hurt too) if we on this forum believe Uncle Les et al, then a lot of the potential candidates or names must surely ruled out anyway.
I'm only recalling here so no direct quotes but doesn't any new manager have to fit in with the club philosophy?
So attractive entertaining football played the Southampton way, with all teams playing in the same manner and formations;
Direct involvement in all aspects of the club academies and in particular bringing youth through to the first team;
Experienced enough to take the club to the next step or level in projected development;
Buying into long term improvement and progression for the club with the eventual target of constantly seeking qualification for the Champions League.
Now a few posters have said that several of the candidates play possession football or cautious tactics and other peccadilloes that seemingly don't align with the club's directives. Add to this that the club clearly scouts and reviews each potential manager and player a lot more thoroughly than we do if these faults or other anomalies exist and are obvious to the casual observer then people like Frank De Boer probably aren't even considered or are way down on the list.
Now who is on the lists that would seem a good fit?
