Like Glenngregory i would love to see Glen Hoddle, just the right man to bring any talented youngsters on, and i'm sure any youngster would love to work with him. If i had to pick one from the list it would be Curbishly. According to an interview with Neil Warnock, he would never manage again, so he is probably ruled out.
before i seen your post i selected curle as who i think would be a good manager for city. same reasons as you stated tbh. also he would be a cheaper option too which will help out the finances and city would be a big club for him to manager so i think he would love the chance to take on the city job. i think appleton would be a great manager too.
Warnock with Curle assisting. Definitely don't want di Canio, a total head case. Neither Holloway or Cotterill. If not my choice, the maybe Tisdale. But I genuinely believe we need someone with the management experience of a Warnock to get this Club back on track results wise. It may prove not to be a long term marriage but so long as he saves us from the drop and restores a winning mentality then he will have done his job well. There's no one else that I can think of with his success record at almost every club he has managed.
Appleton would stay until a better offer look at last season three clubs? Di Canio might be headstrong and comes across as a head case. But look what he achieved at with Swindle got them promoted at the first attempt from league dross to I believe would off possibly taken them into the Championship if he stayed (my opinion only) . He then jumped at a job more suited if he had waited a year or so longer like Gus Poyet. He also done this on low budget. When I saw Swindon this year they impressed we with using width and passing it about, bit dodgy at the back bit like us there. I know Mark Cooper is in charge now but a lot of those players was Di Canio's Plus I would love to see him leaping like a looney about when we score. And I don't think he's afraid to sub anyone that does not preform.
Keith Curle applied sometime ago and was told go get some experiance first,so there sure will be interest from him again.
Got Bury promoted, got crawley who get 3k crowds mid table in league 1, punching above their weight massively Not the worst appointment surely
i like the job uwe rossler is doing at brentford on a tight budget, but why on earth would he come to the gate ?
Not Glenn Hoddle please because he will want prayer meetings every day. Just uin case you haven't spotted it I'm not in to religion but still pray for our revitalisation (lol).
LJ, Actually he aint doing to bad where he is...save the bus on meeting the rest of the family for Christmas dinner
So far we have 4 early front runners.... 1) Neil Warnock....8 votes... 2) Pablo Di Canio..5 votes... 2) A.N.Other........5 votes... 3) Paul Tisdale......3 votes... Interesting, keep 'em coming.....
I agree - Hoddle would be a sensational signing. But what makes you think he would come to Bristol City, when there have been so many Premiership clubs to choose from during his time out. Why not go the whole way and suggest Keegan ? Or Sir Bobby ? Its not going to be Warnock because he likes to work with a budget, and if its Di Canio I am emigrating (with my head bowed in shame)
Latest Betting with Skybet, Barker is also 4/6 for Portsmouth job. I still like the idea of Paul Hartley, only question for me would be his attitude to homesickness again- He has cut his teeth at a lower level, a quality that I like and what I feel is lacking generally in todays game and has 2 successive promotions behind him- Inverness want him so we would need to be quick. Tisdale has gone out to 33/1, good manager who has done brilliant with a budget, but for me, seems to know his and the teams limitations and runs out of steam. Think his job is his at Exeter for as long as he wants it anyway, so why take the risk. Is something known about Cotterill? Bookies are pretty safe in their odds Steve Cotterill 11/8 Richie Barker 15/8 Michael Appleton 8/1 Dean Saunders 16/1 Paolo Di Canio 20/1 Ian Holloway 20/1 Paul Hartley 25/1 Paul Sturrock 25/1 Neil Warnock 25/1 Nick Barmby 33/1 John Pemberton 33/1 Mark Cooper 33/1 Lee Johnson 33/1 Stuart Pearce 33/1 Paul Tisdale 33/1 Mike Phelan 33/1 Keith Curle 33/1 David O'Leary 33/1 Paul Jewell 33/1 Alan Curbishley 33/1 Martin Allen 33/1 David Weir 33/1 Danny Wilson 33/1 Kevin Blackwell 33/1 Gary Johnson 33/1 Alex McLeish 33/1 Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 40/1 Peter Schmeichel 50/1
paul tisdale is settled with a successful second division club. why would he want to manage another prospective league 2 club, who may be just passing through. i wonder if one of the wurzels is free to manage city?
