Aslong as we fair better than this season I'll be happy, and besides, other than a winger, striker and a deep forward I dont think we'll need to be improved.
Plus if Gerrard plays more advanced we wont need a deep forward. Just bring in Shelvey. Do people actually believe Keegan has a chance? Jeeeez!
I agree with winger and striker but I'd rather see a central midfielder arrive than a deep forward. We have players who can play in the hole (Gerrard, Suarez, Kuyt if he stays, etc) but we need someone to take charge in the middle, especially for when Lucas is missing.
A creative centre midfielder who can put a quality ball in the box and chip in goals and another creative attacking mid/ forward I'd say are the 2 priorities. We need to bridge the gap between defence and attack. But I'd add at least a striker and right winger to the squad.
Less pressure on Adam may bring out the same sort of performance's we saw at Blackpool, he has the ability to dominate a game and Lucas isn't injury prone, just an unlucky twist (I've suffered the same fait, not nice at all) and aslong as his rehab is done to perfection he shouldn't have niggles (unlike me).
Lucas' return will hopefully (depends how he recovers after the injury) help with that anyway, our season went south after we lost him. Lets just hope we don't lose any of our main players as I think we need enough already
I see nothing at all wrong in interviewing as many people as possible- quite the opposite in fact. If I'm buying a new car, computer whatever, I don't just take the first one that's stuck under my nose. If I was employing somebody to do an important job for me it would be the same. It's the prospective employee's job to sell himself, to show that he's the man for the job. Can you imagine the bollocking FSG would get on here if they just took the first one on offer? Tbh, because of the emotions running high over Kenny, I'm thinking too many of us are willing to criticize them whatever they do, without waiting to see the results of their actions.
Rumours today: Manager talks will be cut short and AVB will be named as Liverpool manager. Intriguing. If true, he must talk the talk well.
i'd like to see AVB come in. He was doomed from the start at the chavs, they're a joke of a club. In regards to signings, what about giving Aquilani another go? New manager, bring him back. Could at least have a go at it, he looked alright in the very few games he played for us.
Because he doesn't want to come. He did an admirable job pre-season but he's happier in Italy. We don't need unhappy players, which could be a problem with AVB because he's a disciplinarian like Hodgson rather than a pal like Kenny. Stevie's not going to like not having an arm around his shoulder.
Phil Neal refused to call Kenny Boss so Kenny sold him. Do not think he's soft. There's a difference between man management and discipline. Some teams respond to discipline, mostly mid-table and lower where players will try anything for success. International players expect better treatment than a headmaster at the school gates.
I take your point, but I don't see Fergie as the huggy type and it hasn't stopped him getting what he wants from the players.
Come on though Saint, Fergie knows exactly when an arm around the shoulder is required. Yes he's a disciplinarian but he's also extremely clever at when and how he applies that side of his nature. There's a massive difference between managing individuals and discipline for the sake of having to prove you're in charge.
Latest talk is that AVB will take his time before deciding whether to take the Liverpool job. He looks like the clear favourite.
Bear in mind that Bellamy, Johnson, Agger, Gerrard are injury prone and won't play more than 30 games a season. This is where we slip up.
Lol, so latest rumour is that Capello although favouring Chelsea job could be interested in the LFC post. Translation: already suckered millions out if the FA for an early sacking, Tge Chelsea job will pay better & the owner will get shod of me before a year in with hefty compo. Although .....the LFC owners seem to ditch managers at Warp speed these days AND throw stupid money around while talking about cost effectiveness ....mmmm..maybe..... Man is a shark...
I really don't want Capello, can't stand his defensive style and his miserable expression when his own team scores! Plus his interviews are excrutiating and the arrogance overwhelming when he thinks knowing 100 English words is enough to get by when managing an English club - it's not, Fabio - learn English FFS like every other foreign manager has!
