Championship football manager salary is incredible
No one is choosing not to come to a club becasue someone was sacked for finishing 7th

Youre one very succesful season from the prem

Or an insane payout for being sacked
What are their salaries generally?

I’ve never paid much attention to that tbh

Selles saw his Reading team win 3-0 at home last night to take them into 6th place. Cardiff interested in bringing him in as their new manager.

Alex Neil would be a good get, I think people just see that he's an oldish, bald manager and think he's a boring appointment, but he was good with Norwich and he's the only one to have managed a Sunderland promotion in donkeys.
As said a few posts back, he's only 43!! That's not oldish. And it's a great age for a manager.
I agree, as posted earlier, out of who's appears to be in the running, he's a decent shout.
Edit: Selles too, but maybe a bit more of a risk. Interesting background though.

Why? He had a poor Southampton team doing well and he’s lifted Reading well above their expectations

no he didn’t he was **** at Saints we are currently plummeting towards League one, some geezer who’s doing okay in League 1 with no credentials is not the answer.

He’s 3 points behind Birmingham who’ve spent £30m in league one whilst he’s spent tuppence. He’s clearly a good coach at getting most out of his players which is what we need.

I don't think he's overly defensive? His Preston side managed 67 goals (ironically their worst finish under him) in one of his three season, and 57 and 59 in the other two I think. Nothing wild, but Preston have never been a particularly thrilling side loaded with attacking talent (the season after he left they only managed 52 goals, for instance).

I think this comes back to my 'oldish and bald' comment, people pigeon hole him into a 'type' of manager.

46 games..., just saying...

Born in (and played for) Airdrie, which is 5 or 6 miles from where I live...He'll absolutely relish the palatial surroundings he'll encounter in Hull, trust me!!

i was in shock to see Neil is 43, i would have said he was 43 about 10 years ago,
i dont think there are many managers outside the Elite who have a perfect CV , he has 2 promotions under his belt so there is a lot worse out there
important thing now is to make sure we dont get relegated and can debate whether any new manager can get us promoted at a later date.
Wrong appointment now and back to league one and might not get out of it so quick next time.

Looks like it won’t be Selles then

Not necessarily

It's also understood Selles, who is under contract until the summer of 2026, would be open to talking to the Tigers over the big job at the MKM Stadium - HDM today
