I've found that this season's home kit has grown on me. Figuratively, not actually. The away kit looks great, which came as an even bigger surprise, as I was in mourning for last season's classy two-tone blue with yellow highlights.
Great question. I find Errea make really nice kits. Middlesbrough have had some nice shirts over the years. I've loved Italian shirts as well especially Inter, Juve, Milan and Palermo. A personal fav. of mine was this B&HA shirt from 04. Rumour has it the colour was a mistake, but I think it looks great. It had white shorts and socks. Understated Sponsor logo, stylised central badge, and a classic design. please log in to view this image
As for Saints shirts, I've always liked this one, mainly for the black outline on the stripes please log in to view this image How about yourself, Black?
Skint is Norman Cook's (Fatboy Slim) record label. He lives in Brighton and is a Seagulls fan. Also at the time, Brighton were pretty much skint.
My favourite Saints kit is actually very recent. Last season's away one. And my favourite non-Saints is very similar to your Brighton choice, this Argentina one... Strange that I should like blue so much
Honourable mention to CD Lugo. Then local beer is Estrella Galicia, and the main dish octopus. please log in to view this image
Maybe Saints should think about getting sponsored by Southampton's most famous local cuisine... Chicken Land in Bedford Place. Then we could get a snazzy battered chicken style kit.
Was only thinking that earlier today. Norwich City's Home, Away and 3rd kits are quite dramatic and vivid Errea designs. please log in to view this image
Portsmouth Ladies unveil their away kit for the season: please log in to view this image From having to play in old kit from several seasons ago, to having their own kit designed for them by Sondico. That, ladies and gents, is progress.
I think they may have missed an opportunity here. They could have gone for Salmon pink which is an old Pompey colour.
Tbf to Pomps, I would like Saints to provide financial backing to our ladies team. Peanuts to us, salvation to them.
It's the same for nearly every club in the football league, especially the top two divisions: peanuts to them, salvation to the women's team in question. That's why it annoys me when men's teams cut funding due to financial difficulty, especially for teams that aren't even in administration (e.g. Charlton, Coventry, Leeds). The cost of running is a pittance is barely anything compared the costs of running a football league team and no football league team is going to go bankrupt because they spent £30,000 a YEAR on a woman's team. Likewise cutting the women's team is going to make a negligible difference to a team's expenditure, although it's going to make a heck of a difference to the women's team involved. It's just a cope-out, scapegoating the women's team.
